Girl Scouts San Diego Member Support Specialist in San Diego, California

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Build strong administrative volunteer teams by recruiting, appointing, training, and developing volunteers in assigned areas
Provide ongoing coaching and direction to administrative volunteers in assigned areas by interpreting Girl Scouts of the USA and Girl Scouts San Diego policies, standards, and procedures
Continually update knowledge of tools and resources and ensure volunteers have the knowledge to leverage those resources
Follows GSSD’s volunteer management processes including the recruitment, screening, selection, placement, development, training, recognition, and re-assignment of service unit volunteers
Provides customer support and follow-up with volunteers in a timely manner and upholds GSSD’s customer service standards
Identifies the need for and provides timely problem solving and conflict resolution when appropriate
Optimizes the use of technology (including the customer relationship management system) in providing customer service to volunteers
Serves as the main point of contact for service unit volunteers and acts as a broker to distribute information to council staff and guide volunteers to additional support services and resources. Keeps current on cross-departmental information and supports training and messaging provided for service unit volunteers
Performs additional duties as assigned to assist in fulfillment of GSSD’s mission and goals
Works both cross-departmentally and in partnership with internal and external customers to support service unit membership efforts, including recruitment, retention, and recognition of girl and adult members

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
Minimum one-year professional experience managing volunteers
Bilingual English/Spanish, preferred
Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends as needed
Valid drivers’ license, proof of insurance, and access to reliable transportation. Daily and/or occasional travel may be required
Must have belief in the mission and values of Girl Scouting; be willing to subscribe to the principles expressed in the Promise and Law, and aware of the needs of girls in our pluralistic society
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00 per hour.
