Aerotek Environmental Health And Safety Manager in San Diego, California


Daily Duties, Functions, Responsibilities:

• Responsible for development of safety improvement initiatives and the daily management of ongoing safety operations.

• Provides insight, training, and information for upper management team regarding the safety strategic objectives and regulatory compliance issues.

• Manages the safety activities associated with all functions within company.

• Conducts risk assessments to identify and control environmental and safety risks to reduce injury and costs.

• Manages and coordinates medical claims with doctors, and case managers as they relate to Workers’ Compensation.

• Manages the general liability prevention and claims.

• Point of contact for facility emergencies.

• Oversees all light duty program and coordination.

• Leads environmental and sustainability community outreach programs that contribute to the company’s image.

• Develops a risk management program in terms of identifying practices and programs that diminish the company's image, and then addresses them accordingly.

• Performs “after action” investigations and then provides training based on findings.

• Performs safety culture surveys and associated action planning.

• Responsible for team safety engagement.

• Responsible for company security including alarms, cameras, door access, etc.

• Point of Contact for facility to external regulatory agencies (i.e. CalOSHA, San Diego Wastewater, San Diego Air Pollution Control District, San Diego Fire, San Diego Department of Environmental Health, Department of Transportation, DOSH, etc.)

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Ability to operate computer systems including: Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Internet Explorer).

• Excellent organizational, planning, project management and follow-up skills.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Health & Safety or Engineering or related field.

• 2 + years of EHS experience or manufacturing leadership experience with a Safety focus.

• 2+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing facility (preferred).

• Previous training development and delivery experience required.

• Strong knowledge of requirements of CalOSHA, OSHA, San Diego Wastewater, SD APCD, SD Fire, SD DEH, DOT, DOSH, and other regulatory agencies.

• Experienced in problem-solving methods including Process Improvement, Risk Assessment and Root Cause Analysis.
