Position Title: CBR Technician

Summary of duties- The CBR Technician supports the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head Division (NSWC IHD) at NSWC San Diego, CA. This individual will provide Chemical and Biological (CB) support for the R22 Installation and LCM group for Chemical and Biological Detection including system acquisition transition, lifecycle installation, system trouble shooting and repair. This support will encompass all lifecycles of shipboard CB detection for new and current detection systems to include Joint Biological Point Detection System (JBPDS), Enhanced Maritime Biological Detection (EMBD), Improved Point Detection System - Lifecycle Replacement (IPDS-LR), Aerosol and Vapor Chemical Agent Detector (AVCAD), Joint Biological Tactical Defense System (JBTDS) and Joint Chemical Agent Detector Solid Liquid Adaptor (JCAD SLA).
Specific description of duties: Support San Diego Alternation Installation Team (AIT) Manager with coordination of all required installation tasking to include ship checks, ship coordination, installation support efforts, and required documentation. Ensure proper documentation (i.e., DD-200s; DD-1149s, etc.) is generated, compiled and maintained for inventory tracking purposes. Support in the area of pre-installation ship checks and legacy LRU repair prior to EMBD installations. Will complete required On the Job Training (OJT) for support as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for JBPDS and EMBD CB Detection Systems. Support to the AIT Manager on miscellaneous documentation, standards, and training as required. Maintain electronic tracking of inventory. Maintain auditable records of all transactions and provide updated inventory reports to program sponsor on a quarterly basis and an annual report Answer phone calls, schedule equipment pick-ups / drop-offs, and support visitors. Carry out administrative duties such as typing, copying, scanning, filing, etc. Provide overall administrative support to ensure efficient business operations. Maintain inventory levels of office supplies and support equipment. Exhibit polite and professional communication via phone, email, etc. Maintain cleanliness of all areas within the workspace. Occasional travel outside the local area may be required. Possession of an active State Drivers License is required. Perform any other assignments or tasks as needed or requested by management to assist in accomplishing the organizations mission, objectives and goals.
Certifications, Qualifications, Education Requirements:
HS diploma or GED may be required depending on varying contract stipulations. Four to Six (4-6) years of experience in shipboard system maintenance, test and evaluation, field support and training. Experience with the Navy 3M system similar DoD related for for maintenance, test instrumentation requirements analysis, procurement, configuration and operation including computer-based acquisition systems. United States Coast Guard (USCG) and Military Sealift Command (MSC) shipboard experience Damage Control, VBSS, or EOD experience preferred: forklift driver, web-based inventory management (CMPRO), HAZMAT shipping, CBRD shipboard operations, radiation material and transportation (RAM), Assistant Radiation Safety Officer (ARSO). Must be able to travel CONUS/OCONUS independently. Must be able to obtain and maintain a forklift license. General knowledge of shipboard AIT work desired. Good written and oral communication skills. Good Team Player and willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities Working knowledge of Word, excel and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to read drawings
Additional Skills:
Exhibits strong reporting and administrative writing skills. Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) Demonstrates strong organization and communication skills. Demonstrates experience with Navy Supply or similar warehouse operations. Knowledge of Navy Damage Control equipment. Familiarity with FedEx and DLA shipping procedures. Training certifications or equivalent experience in the following preferred: web-based inventory management (CMPRO); HAZMAT shipping; DRMO.
Security Clearance: Secret Security Clearance Required.
Physical Requirements: Ability to be able to walk reasonable distances (up to mile one way) to meet with customers or other company personnel in the execution of job functions. Ability to be able to lift and carry up to 35 pounds in a backpack or messenger bag in order to carry a laptop, notebooks, papers, binders and other tools and equipment required in the execution of job functions. Ability to work independently.
Special Note: This is a Key position for the CBRND Contract: Requires three (3) years of applicable professionalism experience with the operations and repair of Navy Chemical, Biological, and Radiological Defense (CBRD) equipment with emphasis on detection, decontamination, and collective protection.
