As a Senior Engineer for our US Navy autonomy control systems program, you will be responsible for supporting the entire lifecycle of development to fleet support of autonomy software across various naval surface vessel platforms. This critical role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring software functionality, and adhering to stringent US Navy and Department of Defense (DoD) standards. This position will be performed primarily at Naval Base San Diego and Naval Base Point Loma in an office environment and on the waterfront, with hands on test assets. Work may be conducted at other facilities in the southern California area, including Port Hueneme. The applicant will also be required to perform underway on small Navy craft.

In this role, you will:

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve software integration issues.

  • Assist in development and implementation of fleet feedback process and procedures on performance and enhancements of autonomy control systems.

  • Coordinate with Navy stakeholders and participate in technical reviews, on water workups, and demonstrations.

  • Provide platform support for fleet operations, particularly in the areas of OS provisioning and data logging.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • US citizenship and DoD Secret security clearance.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred with 8 years experience.

  • Extensive experience in software integration, testing, and evaluation within the defense industry, preferably with naval systems.

  • Familiarity in Debian, Linux, Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments.

  • Strong understanding of Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and middleware, particularly DDS RTPS.

  • Knowledge of US Navy and DoD acquisition processes, standards, and protocols.

  • Experience with waterfront operations, including hands-on integration and testing activities.

  • Familiarity with naval surface vessel platforms and their operational requirements.

  • Proven leadership abilities, including the capacity to lead integration teams and drive projects to successful completion.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with multidisciplinary teams and Navy stakeholders.

In compliance with state and local laws regarding pay transparency, the salary for this role is $ 114,375.67 to $ 190,626.12 however, Serco considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
