Description
Our client, a leading construction company, is looking for an experienced and dynamic Accounts Payable (AP) Manager to oversee and manage the accounts payable department. The AP Manager will be responsible for ensuring the efficient processing of all accounts payable transactions, leading a team, and driving improvements in processes. Responsibilities:
Manage and oversee the accounts payable department, ensuring all vendor invoices, payments, and purchase orders are processed accurately and timely.
Supervise and mentor a team of AP staff, providing guidance and support in day-to-day operations.
Develop, implement, and maintain AP processes and controls to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with company policies.
Review and approve vendor invoices and ensure proper documentation is in place before payments are processed.
Work closely with project managers and procurement teams to ensure accurate job costing and timely vendor payments.
Prepare and review monthly and quarterly AP reports, including aged payables and cash flow analysis.
Reconcile vendor accounts and resolve any discrepancies or issues promptly.
Coordinate and manage the payment scheduling process, ensuring all payments are made on time.
Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes for accounts payable.
Ensure compliance with tax regulations and assist with sales tax filings related to accounts payable transactions.
Manage vendor relationships and resolve any disputes or payment issues.
Assist in the preparation for audits, providing documentation and support as needed.
Continuously assess and improve AP processes to streamline operations and reduce costs.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in accounts payable, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
Experience in the construction industry is highly preferred.
Strong understanding of accounts payable processes, construction accounting, and job costing.
Familiarity with construction accounting software (e.g., Procore, Sage 300, Viewpoint) is a plus.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage and develop a team.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
