Google Policy Specialist, Regulatory and Compliance Operations in San Bruno, California

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 7 years of experience in data analytics, Trust and Safety, policy, cybersecurity, or related fields.

  • Experience in content policy, anti-abuse, reviewing online content and working on escalations.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in a relevant field.

  • Experience with machine learning.

  • Experience in SQL, building dashboards, data collection/transformation, visualization/dashboards, or in a scripting/programming language (e.g., Python).

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (written and verbal) and the ability to influence cross-functionally at various levels.

As a Policy Specialist, you will ensure we deliver performance goals for sensitive and timely escalations of flagged content. You will manage the response to these escalations globally and use a variety of tools, communications, and facilitation methods to ensure issues are triaged and the right stakeholders are involved in resolution. You will also help test new processes, systems, and infrastructure to manage escalations, while also contributing input into where we put our efforts next. In addition, you will dive into the data around incidents and search for trends, impact, and possible improvements. In this role, you will review graphic, controversial, and sometimes offensive video content in line with YouTube’s Community Guidelines.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $129,000-$191,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Own and manage policy escalations from legal and compliance teams, driving consensus across all stakeholders.

  • Develop knowledge across all product areas to ensure faster, more efficient resolution. Develop post-mortems and implementations of preventative solutions, including working with Engineering on tools.

  • Ensure that all escalations are triaged, tracked, investigated, resolved, and communicated accurately using internal tools and systems. Manage or assist in conducting reviews to capture lessons-learned and ensure regular follow-up.

  • Coordinate or support operational implementation of regional regulations and maintain workflows for compliance.

  • Review graphic, controversial, and offensive video content in line with YouTube's community guidelines.
