GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:The Telecommunications Mechanic I is responsible for performing skilled telecommunication and security technician work in the installation, service, troubleshooting, alternation, programming, and removal of all telecommunication and security related systems. This individual must have a solid background in Access Control, CCTV, and intrusion detection and Fire Alarms.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Perform service, installation, and removal of access control, intrusion alarm, closed circuit television systems, and other various telecommunication and security related systems.
• Perform service, installation, and termination of fiber optic cables, to include splicing (mechanical / fusion), termination and diagnostic testing.
• Installation, termination, and testing of Cat 6 twisted pair cabling, indoor and outdoor.
• Evaluate, diagnose, troubleshoot, and perform repairs, as necessary.
• Perform upgrades and additions to systems to increase functionality utilization.
• Perform computer program entry as required to add CCTV cameras, access control and intrusion alarm systems as needed.
• Prepare documentation in a variety of written and electronic formats for the purpose of providing written support in compliance with regulations and/or conveying information.
• Responsible for reading and understanding technical drawings, assigned project documentation and work orders including scope of work and determine if additional information is needed.
• Maintain accurate truck inventory to ensure timely response to customer needs.
• Exhibit effective customer service skills by consistently communicating with Project Manager, Vice President of Technical Operations - ESS Operations, and customers to ensure complete customer satisfaction experience.
• Must be available for scheduled on-call to respond to after-hours emergency service calls.
• Must be able to travel (approximately 50% - 75% of the time) to remote US locations.
• May be required to lift/move equipment and tools weighing up to 50 lbs. and work from ladders or man lifts at extended heights.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including attending training classes when offered.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) Certificate.
• 5+ years of low voltage security experience (required).
• Texas Fire Alarm License (Preferred).
• Texas Security License (Preferred).
• Experience in Access Control systems and/or CCTV.
• Experience in the service, installation, and termination of fiber optic and digital cables, to include splicing and diagnostic testing.
• Knowledge of color codes 568B, 568A, Fiber optic.
• Must have knowledge of equipment, materials, methods, practices, and tools used in the Electronic Security Technician field, including multi-meter usage, and must possess hand tools.
• Possess or ability to obtain knowledge of NFPA, State, and local fire codes.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances. Secret or higher security clearance is preferred.
• Must have a working knowledge and comply with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. Completion of the OSHA 10 or higher training course is preferred.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and driving history must meet company standards throughout employment.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and a background check as a condition of employment and to obtain access to federal installations.
