PowerBI Developer

job summary:

We have an immediate need for a Power BI Developer for a 12 month contract in San Antonio, TX.

This is a great opportunity for someone with 2-3 years of experience and looking to working in an enterprise environment.

Below are the key requirements for this role.

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Engineering, Mathematics, or Business.

  • 3+ years experience in analytics, reporting, or business intelligence

  • 2 years experience in Power BI Desktop

  • 2 years experience in Power BI Service

  • 2 years experience in DAX (Data Analysis Expressions)

  • 2 years experience in Power Query/ M-Code

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in Power BI, Tableau, MicroStrategy, or other BI software

  • Experience in coding languages primarily Python, R, SQL

  • Familiarity with USQL and Azure Data Factory

  • Experience in DAX (Data Analysis Expressions)

  • Background in data warehouse design (e.g. dimensional modeling) and data mining

  • Experience in star schema data modeling

  • strong Excel skills including VBA, Power Query, Pivot Charts, Pivot Tables

  • Understanding of Agile development

  • Knowledge of SQL queries, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), NoSQL

  • Experience with BEAM or other Agile/BI reporting processes

responsibilities:

Responsibilities include documentation of business requirements, translation of business requirements to data models, development of BI reports, and documentation of product requirements.

  • communicate business needs and data requirements to a Data Architect and provide guidance in curating this data. Requirements include data modeling, big data analytics, using Power Query or DAX to convert business logic and analytics to measures, and visualize data to provide insights into the business.

  • Develop Enterprise dashboards and reports

  • Coordinate development of Business Intelligence products with cloud data team and departments

  • Analyzing product, market, and share trends to build warehouse data

  • Translating business needs into technical specifications

  • Developing reporting systems that provide accessible information for decision making

  • Using warehouse data to generate reports to support business decision making and business performance monitoring

  • Maintaining data analytics platforms

  • Evaluating and improving existing BI systems

  • Conducting troubleshooting on BI models

  • Generating and delivering quality reports to customers and performing quality assurance checks on reports

  • Define BI Practices and Patterns

  • Define and document BI product requirements (user stories, goals, KPIs, metrics)

  • Document data models
