BEAT LLC Network Engineer in San Antonio, Texas

Job Title: Network Engineer

Location: San Antonio, TX (Remote)

Certifications: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Security or CompTIA Security+ (must be able to obtain either certification within 30 days of employment)

Clearance: This position requires the candidate to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. In order to obtain a clearance, you need to be a United States citizen and show proof of citizenship.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or 10+ years’ relevant experience

Job Responsibilities:

  • Technical guidance on all activities associated with the network and server infrastructure

  • Maintain industry and market awareness of network and other technology trends, product advancements, and standards

  • Perform engineering design and evaluations of current and potential network systems

  • Assist the engineering manager in the assigning and delegating of duties to team members involved in activities concerning the definition, acquisition, design, implementation, and support of network and server systems

  • Assist in addressing any issues brought up by office staff regarding network or server issues

  • Supervise the implementation and maintenance of network hardware in an enterprise environment

  • Act as an escalation point for team members as well as other business units when necessary

  • Aid the engineering manager in the development and strategic implementation of network solutions and the support of them

  • Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of policies and controls as they pertain to network systems to ensure data accuracy, security, and regulatory compliance

  • Lead in the design and development of network and server systems and redesign of existing systems to fulfill the needs of customers and the business

  • Aid in the formulation of business systems architecture plans and cost estimates and ensure projects meet strategic needs

  • Provide active involvement in all network- and server-related areas

  • Design, deploy, and maintain local and wide area networks

  • Participate in the development and implementation of disaster recovery procedures as they pertain to the network infrastructure

  • Participate in the development of standards of use, operations, and the security of company technology, including the network, individual computers, servers, and company data

  • Lead communications with other departments in reporting and resolving network and telecommunications software, hardware, and operational issues

  • Other duties as assigned

Highly Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Group Policy

  • Knowledge of Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol networking

  • Fundamental knowledge of System Center Configuration Manager duties

  • Experience in a Managed Service Provider environment

  • Knowledge of Storage Area Network, VMware, International Business Machines (IBM) Server and Storage Units, and Microsoft Windows Server, Exchange, Structured Query Language, Microsoft Office
