The Lead Shipping Clerk is a key role in the Warehouse department, responsible for ensuring accurate and timely shipment and receiving of products to Warehouse. This position involves strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The Lead Shipping Clerk plays a crucial role in maintaining Warehouse shipments efficiency, quality standards, and ongoing training and development. The Lead Shipping Clerk will be responsible for partnering with internal and external customers to ensure efficient and accurate shipping operations. This role also requires a strong emphasis on fostering a safety-first culture, ensuring that all Warehouse Shipping functions are conducted with a high level of attention to safety protocols and procedures.

Schedule: 1st Shift (Monday - Friday)

Responsibilities:

  • Warehouse:

  • Receive and process incoming orders, ensuring accuracy and completeness of information

  • Prepare shipping documents, including packing slips, bill of lading, and shipping labels.

  • Verify product quantities and quality before packaging for shipment or receiving

  • Coordinate with Warehouse Colleagues to ensure timely shipping and receiving of orders

  • Coordinate transfers and sample/stability product request

  • Arrange transportation and schedule pick-ups with shipping carriers

  • Track and monitor shipments to ensure on-time delivery

  • Resolve any shipping- related issues or discrepancies with carriers

  • Maintain accurate records of all shipments, filing of all documents, including tracking numbers and delivery confirmations

  • Assist in inventory management by conducting regular checks and reporting discrepancies

  • Operate lift truck or uses hand truck to move shipments from loading dock or work area

  • Operate software related to UPS Shipping systems, AS400, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word etc.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Operates lift truck or uses hand truck to move shipments from loading dock to storage or work area.

  • Performs internal audits unpacks and examines incoming shipments, records damaged items, records shortages and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages

  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.

  • Promote a safe working environment and enforce safety protocols.

  • Conduct regular safety inspections and address any potential hazards or risks.

  • Educate team members on safety procedures and best practices.

  • Quality Control:

  • Understand the food safety and quality aspects of the position as indicated in the Quality Management System (QMS), On-the-job training manual (OJT) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

  • Conduct regular quality checks and inspections to ensure product conformity.

  • Records damages, shortages and corresponds with carriers/ shippers to rectify damages and shortages

  • Training staff on all Department S.O.P

  • Identify and address any deviations or non-conformities in the Warehouse process.

  • Assist with completion of NCR (Non-Conformance Reporting) & Destruction Workflow

  • Collaborate with the quality assurance team to resolve quality-related issues.

  • Foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement among the production team.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred

  • Ability to operate software related to in-motion system, Postal Meter, UPS shipping systems, AS400/SAP shipping systems, Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams

  • Prior shipping/receiving experience in a warehouse environment preferred

  • Ability to write simple correspondence and exercise basic mathematical skills

  • Must be able to respond to verbal and written instructions

  • Physical ability to repetitively lift, stand, climb, bend, etc. within a manufacturing environment
