Job Summary:

Maintain a safe workplace for fellow associates and ensure the protection of the environment at a manufacturing site. Collaborate with internal business customers and domain experts to ensure compliance with regulations and implementation of innovative EH&S techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guide a team of three to five direct report EH&S professional and consultant partners to deliver outstanding EH&S services at the San Angelo manufacturing site.

  • Build value by driving greater efficiency and standardization in the deployment of EH&S resources, processes, procedures and programs.

  • Guide the progress of management action plans, providing technical support to ensure corporate, business segment, and site goals are achieved.

  • Owns decision rights for site-level EHS hiring, staff management and workload distribution.

  • Continuously monitor all aspects of site performance and provide direction to site leaders to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Provide EHS&S technical assistance and support to site.

  • Prepare, submit, and maintain records and reports in an accurate and timely manner.

Qualifications

Education:

  • University/Bachelor's or equivalent degree required. Concentration in Science, Engineering or related EH&S field preferred.

Experience and Skills

Required:

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of related experience

  • Progressive experience in a broad range of EH&S technical subject areas, with at least 2 years running EH&S programs at a manufacturing or R&D facility.

  • Experience identifying, evaluating and controlling safety, industrial hygiene, and environmental risks.

  • Strong understanding of OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.

  • Strong written and communication skills, including the ability to explain sophisticated issues and requirements in an easily understood manner.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including the capability to influence key business partners.

  • Strong leadership skills and previous supervisory experience.

  • Ability to use EH&S Management systems to ensure regulatory compliance.

Preferred:

  • Proficiency using Microsoft software, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Experience using technology and innovative ideas to address problems.

  • Relevant EH&S certifications (e.g. CSP, CIH, REM, CMSE, etc.).

Other:

  • Up to 5% travel required; primarily domestic.

  • Experience working in a union environment is beneficial.
