Neighborhood House Teacher in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

Neighborhood House is a licensed and NAEYC accredited facility providing preschool to children 15 months to 5 years old. Our fees are on a sliding fee scale, so it is affordable to all. Our Early Education Teachers work in teams to provide a safe and developmentally appropriate classroom environment where children can experience success. As a teacher you will be doing this through delivery of daily curriculum promoting cognitive development, large and small motor skills, social skills, and self-help skills. You will be providing a nurturing environment and helping children effectively manage their emotions. Setting appropriate boundaries and interacting with diverse children, parents and staff in a positive, respectful manner is a must. Opportunities for advancement, including paid education to earn your Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. If you already have your CDA, we are hiring for those positions as well. Primary Responsibilities:

  • To promote children's self-esteem through appropriate hands-on activities, positive interaction and respect for each child's individual worth and to guarantee safety. To understand and implement the Creative Curriculum model, using play-based learning and interest centers as the basis for a developmentally appropriate early childhood environment.
  • To utilize planning time constructively to develop activities that will enhance the cognitive, physical, emotional and social development of the children. To be directly and actively involved in activities with the children, including extending the curriculum to the playground area.
  • To assess each individual child and use that information to provide challenging activities which build and strengthen individual skills using informal and formal assessment tools.
  • To manage the classroom in a positive and constructive manner through use of behavioral management techniques consistent with DAP philosophy.
  • Work together as a team to promote a positive and constructive classroom through the use of behavioral management techniques.

     

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • First-Aid and CPR Certificate
  • Valid Utah Driver's License
  • Obtain a Food Handler's Permit
  • Maintain Confidentiality
  • Follow all licensing rules and regulations
  • Pass Child Care Licensing Background Check
  • Pass a drug test
  • COVID Vaccinated
  • Must speak, read and write English Fluently. Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
