Job Summary
The Department of Neurobiology is seeking a highly responsible professional with experience in research academia IT environments. An organized and proactive team member with comprehensive abilities to build and support client relationships, plan and overseeing complex IT projects, deeply understand network concepts and configurations, and support work with broader university communities.
Must possess a friendly collaborative demeanor with a high level of self-motivation and be well-versed in IT best practices across broad hardware and software skillsets. Extensive support of various systems and applications that include multiple versions of Microsoft Windows, Mac OS, and Linux operating systems as well as common applications including Office 365, the Adobe Creative Cloud suite, and other academic programs is required. Experience with broader campus security and management software including Active Directory, Intune, Defender, Tanium, Forcepoint, BeyondTrust, and other EPM and PAM is also required.
Understanding team-based development and implementation of internal departmental processes and procedures to increase performance metrics is expected. Interactions with department team members and clients will include email, Microsoft Teams, phone calls, and texting. Remote support access will be utilized with a hybrid work schedule that is subject to client needs that will require reasonable in-office presence. There is no patient data interaction but understanding of HIPAA , FERPA , FISMA policies and best practices is expected.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
Understand and remediate client support needs of workstations, desktop, laptops, and mobile devices
Think creatively about technical and non-technical solutions
Effectively work as part of a team as well as individually on projects
Constantly seek new and deeper understanding of emerging technology and systems
Facilitate effective communication with different audiences including professors, office staff, graduate students, and lab staff
Purchase and support various hardware devices and maintain inventory management
Manage and maintain Microsoft Windows, Apple Mac OS, and Linux systems
Manage and maintain multiple types of disk storage and file-sharing systems (Box, OneDrive, Synology)
Design, review, and coordinate policies and procedures that support needs and increase the quality of departmental IT support
Plan, organize, and evaluate implementation of IT projects including inventory and client ticketing, and ensure projects are consistent with department requirements
Understand networking topologies and management to plan for and communicate needs to campus network operations
Know how to navigate campus services to meet project expectations and maintain workflow
Minimum Requirements:
Able to do some lifting and repetitive sitting desk work
Require a bachelor’s degree or equivalency of more than 10 years of experience in related work
History of working with academic IT practices and procedures

Minimum Qualifications
Require a bachelor’s degree in a related area, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience), and 3-5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

Five (5) years of computer support-related experience
Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and planning skills
Industry certifications A+, MCSE , ACSA , ITIL , Project Management ( PMP ) preferred
Mobile Device Management ( MDM ) experience
Strong understanding of physical plant network components
