SUMMARY OF POSITION

Engineering Intern duties include but are not limited to assisting with various engineering tasks and assignments such as preparing for and conducting field inspections, data reduction, reporting, engineering analyses, and design. Work is performed under the direction of a Project Engineer or higher who makes assignments, provides guidance, and reviews work to ensure that it is completed according to instructions and in accordance with accepted principles and practices of civil engineering.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform inspections under the direction of higher-level engineers.
  • Prepare reports, studies, and related documents.
  • Participate in technical review meetings with engineering and planning staff.
  • Review engineering plans, reports, studies, and related documents.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

YOU WILL NEED

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in the English language.
  • Ability to define problems, collect/interpret data, evaluate facts, draw valid conclusions, and effectively communicate findings/results.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage tasks efficiently and effectively.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • Higher-level mathematics, including trigonometry, algebra, geometry, and calculus, and its application to surveying and engineering computations.
  • 0-4 years of relevantexperience.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possess knowledge of current literature, trends, and developments in the field of engineering and the ability to keep current with new developments.
  • Possess knowledge of construction practices (concrete, steel, carpentry, welding, etc.).
  • Proficient in technical writing.
  • Proficient in basic computer functions (Microsoft Office, etc.).
  • Be a self-starter and able to work as independently as possible.
  • Current medical certifications including bloodborne pathogens, first aid, CPR, and emergency oxygen administration if performing fieldwork.
