This position assists the R&D Engineering department in designing, developing, and implementing new products, processes, test methods and equipment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assists with engineering assignments.

  • Apply engineering principles

  • Initiates new or revised documentation and tracks through appropriate approval cycles and implementation

  • Maintains a professional working relationship with internal & external customer and support staff

  • Participates in multi-functional teams.

  • Provides technical support on components, material methods, systems, and equipment.

  • Assists in developing physical and functional test requirements to assure specifications & regulations are met.

  • Writes and reviews protocols, reports, and data.

  • Conducts testing outlined in protocols and test methods.

  • Completes validation studies on equipment & processes.

  • Completes design controls.

  • Analyzes design inputs.

  • Prepares and presents oral and written project updates and technical discussions.

Education and Experience:

  • Working toward a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical, Mechanical, Mathematics, Physics or Manufacturing program from an accredited university.

  • Must be at minimum be a sophomore in college; but preferable a Junior or Senior in their program

Desired Knowledge and Skills:

  • Basic Technical writing skills.

  • Ability to read drawings.

  • Good understanding of engineering principles.

  • Demonstrated ability to apply engineering principles.

  • Ability to perform testing per written directions.

  • Demonstrated comprehension of basic descriptive statistics.

  • Basic Software application skills.

  • Basic problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to collect and analyze data and derive conclusions.

  • Ability to make recommendations to reach a solution.

  • Oral and written presentation skills.

  • Ability to work independently.

Physical Demands:

This position is in an office and laboratory environment and requires the incumbent to sit, stand and perform general office functions. The incumbent may also be required to lift up to twenty-five pounds occasionally. The incumbent may be required to stand for extended periods. Bending, stooping, and reaching are also frequently required.

Work Environment:

This position is for a part-time, year-round, internship opportunity. This position requires part-time availability, while working towards a degree in a related field of study.

This position can work up to 40 hours per week during the summer (but not required) and a target of 20 hours per week during the school semesters.
