Job Summary

The Utah Education and Telehealth Network ( UETN ), a state operated broadband and education technology provider for K20 education, libraries, healthcare, and research throughout Utah is seeking an Associate Director to manage the UETN Project Management Office ( PMO ).

This position is responsible for working with UETN’s leadership team in organizing and managing the PMO to ensure projects align with UETN mission and add value, follows correct processes, maintaining and supporting effective standards and managing a team of five UETN IT project managers.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

This position will mange the project management office ( PMO ) and its staff. Position will also manage projects to include but not limited to a statewide K12 technology inventory project, wireless projects, and CTO special projects.

The manager will work directly with project sponsors, UETN administration, UETN Technical Services to include network engineering, network operations, network security, field operations, video operations, Information Technology Asset Management ( ITAM ), security, enterprise, and systems. Also, UEN Education Services, Utah Telehealth Services ( UTN ) and UETN external stakeholders and partners to ensure the PMO is successfully meeting the needs of the organization and allocation of resources is effective.

The manager may also serve as a UETN Technical Advocate for a region or service area within Utah to ensure UETN is anticipating the needs of its stakeholders. This role will require attending monthly or quarterly meeting, and documenting and communicating stakeholder priorities as UETN establishes priorities and defines annual broadband requirements for broadband RFPs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Implement and follow IT project management best practices.

  • Evaluate and prioritize project management requests.

  • Ensure projects align with project plan, delivered within budget, and are completed on time.

  • Assign projects.

  • Monitoring project progress.

  • Assess and assign project management training.

  • Provide project reports to UETN leadership.

  • Develop and manage the PMO budget.

  • Evaluate project management tools with the project management team.

  • Work with UETN leadership and department managers on project and resource priorities.

  • Must work within the Wasatch Front with ability to participate in internal UETN in-person meetings and stakeholder meetings.

  • Project risk and quality analysis and management.

  • Coaching and mentoring project managers on a regular basis.

  • Promote transparency and collaboration.

  • Assess and review project managers performance.

  • Must travel as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in related computer science area, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required; plus six years of progressively more responsible management experience; and demonstrated leadership, human relations and effective communication skills also required.

  • Excellent organizational and technical skills.

UETN provides a hybrid work environment but applicant must be available and willing to work onsite/office as needed.

Direct work experience and knowledge of technology as it applies to K12 and/or higher education.
