University of Utah Post Doctoral Fellow in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

The Department of City & Metropolitan Planning (CMP) within the University of Utah's College of Architecture + Planning invites applications for a two-year Postdoctoral research and teaching position. This position will begin on July 1, 2024, and run through June 30, 2026. The position is a 9-month appointment at 1.0 FTE.The successful candidate will participate in multiple grant-funded projects on disaster planning and management under the direct supervision of Dr. Divya Chandrasekhar. Experience in disaster studies and a strong quantitative analysis background are required. The successful candidate will also teach two courses per year in the Masters and undergraduate programs of the Department of City & Metropolitan Planning. Candidates with experience or interest in teaching planning analysis methods and GIS are preferred.Opportunities will be available for the successful candidate to pursue their research, collaborate on grant writing, publishing, mentor student researchers, and engage with a renowned interdisciplinary hazards research community through the NSF-funded WIRED Global Center (an interdisciplinary U.S.-Canada research center on energy and climate resilience), and the C-CIES (an interdisciplinary research center focused on improving earthquake awareness and resilience). The Urban Ecology degree is also taught at the Utah Asia Campus in Songdo, South Korea. The Master of City and Metropolitan Planning (MCMP) is an accredited professional degree emphasizing ecological resiliency, smart growth, and social justice through effective communication, collaboration, and innovation. The Ph.D. in Metropolitan Planning, Policy, and Design is a research-focused program. The department also offers a Master of Real Estate Development (with School of Business) and Graduate Certificates in Urban Design, Community Engaged Practices, and Real Estate Development.
