ASM Global Maintenance Technician (Engineer) (Salt Palace) in Salt Lake City, Utah

POSITION: Facility Maintenance Engineer

DEPARTMENT: Engineering

REPORTS TO: Chief Engineer

FLSA STATUS: Hourly/Non-Exempt

Summary

ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for the Facility Maintenance Engineer for Salt Palace Convention Center. Responsible for maintaining a good working condition for all facility equipment, including HVAC, plumbing and electrical plants; lighting and climate control systems; roofing systems; maintenance / cleaning equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Repairs and maintains all facility systems and equipment.

  • Inspects systems throughout facility to detect malfunctions or breakdowns.

  • Investigates malfunctions or breakdowns of systems to diagnose causes and locate the source of the problem.

  • Implements corrective actions and solutions.

  • Anticipates potential malfunctions or breakdowns and takes appropriate action to prevent or minimize curtailment of services.

  • Operates auxiliary supply systems when a breakdown occurs.

  • Coordinates shutdown and start-ups of utilities when conditions require it.

  • Follows procedures for use of work orders using Altum.

  • Adheres to OSHA, NFPA and other applicable safety codes.

  • Installation of Telephone and Internet lines for exhibitors.

  • Monitor and change temperature using the BMS.

  • The changing of lamps, ballasts and fixtures around the facility.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    Experience & Knowledge

  • Ability to lift 75+ pounds.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

  • Forklift license a plus.

  • Position requires heavy lifting, climbing, carrying, stooping, crawling and equipment operation. This position requires work both indoors and out and is subject to adverse conditions.

  • Excellent organization skills

  • Ability to prioritize and to handle multiple projects simultaneously

  • Good written, verbal, and interpersonal skills required; ability to interact with all levels of staff including management

  • Professional presentation, appearance, and work ethic

  • Graduate of an accredited technical school is preferred.

  • 1+ year hands-on experience with HVAC equipment, HVAC/plumbing certification/licensing is preferred.

  • Ability to work irregular / extended/ rotating hours, including night’s weekends and holidays as required.

  • To perform the job successfully, the individual should have sufficient computer skills to operate BMS or other automated systems

Job Type: Full-time, In-Office

Wage: $22.50-25/hour

Schedule: Monday through Friday, Weekend Availability required, Day/Evening/Night shifts, Rotating shifts, 24 hour on call availability required

Subject to sustained periods of time with exposure to the elements with adverse conditions. May require tools and equipment operation that could cause personal harm and/or injury if improperly handled. Requires irregular and/or extended hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, determined by event schedule and/or department needs. Requires radio usage, two-way handheld.
