Job Title Engineer III, Automation
FLSA Status Exempt
Position Summary Automation Engineer III is fully capable to provide production support, independently root cause the technical problems and propose and implement corrective actions. Participate in new process development, lean implementation, cost improvement projects, and material changes. Collaborate with automation engineers to implement changes on the automation machines.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities • Experience with the high volume fully automated production machines. • Hands on experience with the following but not limited to: Machine design, machine fixture design, CAM driven machines, pneumatic actuators, servos, stepper motors, EFD dispensing valves, vision systems, sensors, sonic welding, pick-and-place mechanisms, pad printing, electrical test instruments, air-leak testers. • Experience with PLC (preferably Allen Bradley) control, HM I, I/Os, • Determine machine requirements, evaluate needs and translate them into feasible and economical equipment solutions. • Capable to perform reverse engineering, measure and spec out tooling, and create 3D models and 2D drawings. Must be proficient in Solid works • Demonstrated ability to communicate concepts, challenges, and project plans to all levels of the organization • Process validation support IQ/OQ/PQ
Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications
• Experience with the electrical hardware, schematics, and wiring per NEMA STD is desired. • Networking and automatic data acquisition. • Provide knowledge on capabilities of key automation suppliers and providers of automation design and equipment manufacturing. • Experience with lean manufacturing experience (yield improvements, machine uptime improvements, MUV/scrap reduction, changeover time reduction) • Diagnos e and provide feedback for product nonconformance, CAPAs, and customer complaints. • Direct experience required in formulating detailed project plans and managing activities/tasks and track progress electronically
Education and Experience • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university • 4-7 years' experience
Minimum Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age
Travel Requirements Typically requires travel less than 5% of the time
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
• This is largely a sedentary role. • This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment. • Some of the work is performed in a clean room environment • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit or stand for long periods of time; depending on the machine they are operating • Must be able to occasionally move and lift objects of up to 25 lbs
