Rape Recovery Center DEVELOPMENT AND ADMINISTRATIVE SPECIALIST in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

JOB OVERVIEW

The Development & Administrative Specialist is responsible for supporting development and fundraising including, prospecting, drafting proposals, submitting applications and reports, maintaining the donor database, and ongoing grant calendar. This staff will assist the Administrative, Operations and Development team with other needed activities, including special events, annual appeals, donor engagement, and agency operational tasks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct administrative activities to support the growth of financial support from foundations, including stewardship of current grants via internal data systems and reports.

  • Conduct activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grants, including prospecting, proposal writing, reporting, and tracking grant goals and objectives. 

  • Assist in managing donor database; participate in data entry and gift processing related to corporate, foundation, and individual giving.

  • Assist the Administrative and Development Department with special projects and events as assigned.

  • Assist in creating development-related marketing materials and communications. 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Clear, precise, and compelling writing skills

  • Understand the grant fundraising cycle and have experience in proposal writing.

  • Practiced communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas to a wide range of audiences

  • Independently balance multiple ongoing deadlines while tracking and maintaining goals.

  • Maintain accurate and timely records within various database

  • Ability to understand and execute complex processes 

  • Ability to work well with and inspire confidence in staff and donors

  • Excellence in building and maintaining business and personal relationships

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1-2 years of experience in grant-writing, development, and nonprofit administration

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field OR 4 years of professional experience OR an equivalent combination of practical and academic experience

  • Demonstrated ability to write successful grant proposals 

  • Able to listen to and apply feedback in a work setting; and to enact consent and accountability to basic work expectations.

  • Employee must obtain a 40-hour crisis counselor certification before the start of employment or within 90 days.
