SALT LAKE COMMUNITY COLLEGE Custodian, Child Care South City Campus in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

This position is under immediate supervision of the Director of Child & Family Services. It is an important position to the College because all duties performed are visible and contribute greatly to the environment and overall appeal of our Child Care. Child Care is a fast-paced environment. This applicant knows fundamental concepts of custodial services to ensure a safe, clean, sanitary and functional environment for this location. This position performs standard tasks using established methods, principals, concepts, and procedures which will be learned through facilities/custodial trainings. Applicant for this position will arrive during hours that children are in care, thus interactions with children will occur. This person will need to have a friendly demeanor with children and other staff. They will also have to pass a background check from the Bureau of Child Care licensing and complete training hours per our licensing/accreditation regulations. This means attending our staff meetings. This person will be exposed to communicable diseases associated with young children. Dependability is a must. After arrival, trashes and bathrooms will need attention. The playgrounds and yard will need a walk through to ensure lost items, trash and broken toys are contended with. After those tasks are completed a walk through for visible grim, handprints and such will need taken care of. Work will be at the discretion of the Director/office who will act as a primary contact for daily task and requirements. Supporting classroom clean up for closing hours will be followed by typical cleaning task which are posted as primary cleaning responsibilities. Bathrooms will need to be cleaned and sanitized periodically throughout the day. The last classroom in use will need to be cleaned after all of the children have gone at day end. Staff meetings may alter these planned hours. Child care may be available for this applicant if needed. Snow removal/deicing may be necessarily.

Work hours are Monday -- Thursday 2:00 PM -- 10:30 PM and Friday 12:00 PM -- 8:30 PM(some flexibility within reason).

- - BATHROOM CLEANLINESS IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST. - Clean classrooms and offices. - Clean restrooms, kitchen, and all areas of the Tim & Brenda Huval Child Care Center. - Fill soap, paper towel, toilet paper and other dispensers. - Clean indoor/outdoor common areas: ramps, patios, entryways, atriums, stairways, elevators, hallways, playgrounds, and balconies. - Sweep and mop hard surface floors. - Vacuum carpets. - Empty and clean trash cans and ash urns. - Clean glass, windows, and sills. - Wipe down furniture (i.e., tables, desks, and chairs etc.). - Clean and polish handrails, metal trim, and drinking fountains. - Clean walls, ceilings, corners, edges, baseboards, chair rails, doors, and frames. - Polish doorknobs (sanitize), frames, and kick plates. - Dust and clean vents and light covers. - Ensure that all lights are off, and doors secured after completing cleaning duties. - Remove graffiti as needed. - Keep custodial closet clean and organized. - Keep custodial equipment clean and maintained. - Respond to emergency calls and clean up after floods and spills utilizing proper personal protective equipment. - Report problems and damage. - Clean table, chairs, and empty trash in outdoor common areas such as patios, atriums, stairways, and balconies. - Responsible for snow removal and ap plication of ice melt during the winter season. - Perform standard tasks using established methods, principals, concepts, and procedures. - Complete and maintain all SLCC, Facilities and Custodial required training.

 

Tasks may also include:

  • Wiping down glass for handprints multiple times a day.
  • Cleaning up after potty training accidents and other bodily fluids.
  • P tting away toys that are left in areas that need to be cleaned.
  • Clearing sinks of food particles and toys prior to sanitizing.
  • Clearing and organizing storage rooms prior to vacuuming or mopping.
  • Sanitizing trash bins and lids.
  • Walking through the playgrounds to pick up trash, lost and found, and displaced toys.
  • Emptying diaper pails and sanitizing them.
  • Sanitizing toys and touchable surfaces.
  • Sanitizing diaper changing tables.
  • Sanitizing tables, chairs, and floors.
  • Assisting with laundry.
  • Assisting with washing dishes and cleaning kitchen.
  • Assisting with organizing and cleaning.
  • Providing support.
  • Other duties as assigned.
