Job Summary

This position is a member of the Dean’s leadership team and will be responsible for directing the overall college financial management, as well as assisting with strategic planning and related administrative work being performed throughout the college. This is a multi-disciplinary organization and employees prosper in a team-oriented environment that emphasizes the values of communication, professionalism, service, stewardship, and engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Together with CSBS Dean, examines academic growth patterns and provides forecasting and development of a strategic financial plan for CSBS in context of new budget model

  • Reviews CSBS financial structure and incentive models and provides thought-partnership for future financial planning and potential strategic redistribution and recapture of CSBS funds

  • Leads CSBS operations with oversight in support of CSBS academic initiatives, space planning, and IT security

  • Develops ideas for organizational restructuring with an aim for greater operational efficiency and effectiveness, ex UCareer changes, CSBS budget salary analysis for staff

  • Supervisory oversight of CSBS administrative officers with financial responsibilities, provide support and evaluation of administrative officers with financial responsibilities

  • Establish enhanced cross-functional alliances with central budget office and other units in support of CSBS mission, ex: writes and submits financial reports and budgetary forecasting analyses for CSBS Dean team; leads communication and liaises with Central Administration Office of Budget & Planning and Institutional Analysis

  • Maintains effective control of the unit’s budget while ensuring that funds are used to meet the goals and mission of the university college and CSBS departments

  • Assists in the analysis and implementation of new programs and special project(s)

  • Provides analysis related to planning, policy development, work methods and procedures, staffing utilization, organizational structure, distribution of work assignments and information management

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, or related area, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); nine years of progressively more responsible management experience; and demonstrated leadership, staff management, and effective communications skills required.

Preferences

Master’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related area, or equivalency; experience with University of Utah policies and processes.
