University of Utah Health Clinical Staff Development Educator in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

This position is responsible for promoting patient care and organizational effectiveness, by serving as a coordinator, resource, liaison, and leader in organizational behavior and staff development. The Staff Development Educator delivers training and education in a variety of settings, including but not limited to traditional classroom, one-to-one, and small groups. The Staff Development Educator presents to interdepartmental committees, task forces, quality teams, and builds close relationships with management to identify training needs. The incumbent develops cost-effective, high-impact organizational strategies and solutions that address critical business issues and participates in large-scale organization change efforts impacting multiple levels of stakeholders. Incumbent may be assigned one or more special areas of focus.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates, facilitates, and delivers educational programs and training as assigned.

  • Anticipates and articulates emerging organizational needs.

  • Provides expert organization development and systems analysis.

  • Identifies strategies for organizational improvement, and helps implement.

  • Utilizes the education process to identify educational needs, develop training materials and lesson plans, and implement divisional, departmental and institutional staff development, and continuing education programs.

  • Demonstrates leadership in organizational activities through committee, task force and project participation.

  • Integrates research into education programs as appropriate.

  • Facilitates the implementation and integration of applicable standards into practice.

  • Facilitates change in practice based on emerging health care trends, needs and technology.

  • Functions as a resource/consultant for new employees, students, clinical departments, educators, and leaders.

  • Manages projects and coordinates resources including staff assignments within and outside of the department.

  • Model the behaviors and skills presented in the curriculum.

  • Advocates and supports workshop content with individuals and groups.

  • Ensures that learning activities deliver intended outcomes.

  • May perform patient-related procedures in accordance with the incumbent's licensure, as required by the specific department.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Experience conducting adult education and demonstrated teaching, coordination of resources, and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills.

  • Expert knowledge of organizational development, change management, leadership, organizational and group dynamics, motivation theory and organization design, strategies, and business planning.

  • Excellent management consultation skills and ability to manage client relationships.

  • Must possess and demonstrate a high level of computer skills, and be able to teach and support the instruction of the organization's computer systems according to the assigned area of focus.

Qualifications

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area, or equivalency.

Licenses Required

  • Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.

  • One of the following

  • A current JCAHPO certification as a Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT).

  • Current Licensed Clinical Social Worker (L.C.S.W.) certificate for clinical practice in the State of Utah.

  • Current license to practice as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the State of Utah.

* Additional license requirements as determined by the hiring department.

Qualifications (Preferred)

Preferred

  • Experience in a Health Care organization.

  • Master's degree or equivalent experience in a related area.

  • Two years of leadership and direct organizational behavior/development experience.
