The Operations and Information Systems ( OIS ) Department in the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah seeks candidates for a full-time career-line faculty (Lecturer) position in information systems. A relevant graduate degree is required for the position, and a PhD in Information Systems or related field is preferred, but may be substituted by relevant work experience. Lecturers are non-tenure track faculty whose primary responsibility is teaching, recruiting and advising students, and monitoring their learning. Depending on experience and education level, they may also conduct original research and serve on various departmental and college committees. Information Systems faculty members at the David Eccles School are highly research active and well networked in academia and industry. Opportunities to collaborate in research studies and practice-oriented student projects are abundant. Depending on education and experience, lecturers can hold the rank of instructor, assistant professor, associate professor or professor. Successful candidates will be expected to teach both undergraduate and graduate level courses as well as be actively involved in mentoring student clubs, managing IT-related competitions, and promoting the programs. In addition, this candidate is expected to assist program leadership in growing the IS program at the university’s newly established Herriman Campus. Topic areas where expertise is desired include (but are not limited to) programming (e.g., Python), system analysis and design, database fundamentals, web app development, and business analytics.

In addition, we are seeking candidates with experience in teaching at the university level, coupled with positive teaching evaluations and curriculum development skills. Technical proficiency in tools such as SQL , Python, or R, as well as staying abreast of industry trends, is crucial. The candidate should bring professional experience and a strong network in academia and industry, showcasing excellent communication, collaboration, and mentoring abilities. A commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment, willingness to contribute to departmental service, and potential for future leadership are also key attributes we seek. The David Eccles School of Business is a world-class business school with a rich history of excellence in education and research. The OIS Department is home to faculty in operations and supply chain ( OSC ) and information systems (IS). The Department currently offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees in IS, a bachelor’s in OM and PhD’s with emphases on OM or IS. Each winter, the OIS Department hosts 3 research conferences that attract scholars from around the world.
