Where are these roles located within American Express?

The U.S. Consumer Services Team is responsible for our suite of consumer products, services, and experiences in the U.S., including our premium, cobrand, cash back, and lending portfolios, Membership Rewards, Global Travel & Lifestyle Services, the Centurion Lounge network, our Global Dining and Resy businesses, U.S. Consumer Banking, and best-in-class marketing programs across customer, prospect, and partner channels. The USCS team is focused on making membership an indisputable competitive advantage and helping each other become better leaders every day.

The US Consumer Services Control Management team’s mission is to help identify, assess, mitigate, and report on Operational Risk to ensure that we deliver on the customer promise for our products and services. The team strengthens our culture and discipline of operational risk management and our ability to execute risk management in everything we do.

You could be recruited for a role to serve as a key member in several of our working groups. Some of the teams that we are currently hiring for include:

  • Governance

  • Issues, Events & Remediation

  • Risk ID, Assessment, Testing & Reporting

  • Process Risk Reduction

What you’ll bring:

  • 2 Years experience in operational risk management (e.g., within Risk and/or Internal Audit function) Understanding of critical operational risk management lifecycle activities. 

  • Project management, communication, and interpersonal skills 

  • Experience in process governance, with an understanding of processes that align with policies, regulatory frameworks, and/or operational standards. 

  • Sound analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to analyze data, identify trends, and evaluate risk scenarios effectively.

*Qualifications: *

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Finance, Business, Risk Mgmt, or related field.

  • Experience in at least one of the following:  

  • Translating operational risk strategy and appetite into execution guidelines 

  • Tracking and identifying issues with Key Risk Indicator (KRI) limits and risk appetite to ensure operational risks are managed within agreed thresholds. 

  • Facilitating the implementation of the operational risk governance frameworks  

  • Developing, communicating, and ensuring understanding and adherence to operational risk procedures and standards  

  • Supporting the operational risk exam management processes 

Qualifications

Salary Range: $55,000.00 to $105,000.00 annually bonus benefits
