Utilities Service, LLC Bucket Truck Operator - TCD in Salisbury, North Carolina

Bucket Truck Operator

These positions will be responsible for the installation and removal of traffic signals, lighting, and fixtures.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Performs work from aerial devices and ladders to install and maintain traffic signals, streetlights, and fixtures.

  • Assists with assembling materials and work from the ground.

  • Clears work area and maintains safe job site conditions.

  • Excavates to assist in the installation of structures or cables as required by contract specification.

  • Will have contact with public and private property owners to communicate the work to be performed.

  • Operates various tools for the work (manual digging devices, wrenches, hammers, come-along, jackhammer, and handline, etc.).

  • Uses meters and other testing devices on secondary voltages up to 600 Volts.

  • Maintain proper documentation related to work assignments

  • All other duties as required or requested by Supervisors.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Can work safely and efficiently within designated job parameters.

  • Able to work with hands above head for extended periods.

  • Able to work at height efficiently and effectively.

  • Meet and maintain weight restrictions for bucket trucks as identified by the truck manufacturer.

Education & Experience:

  • Bucket Truck Certification is required.

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

Pre-Screen:

  • Upon offer, employees may be required to subject and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background and/or MVR check.

License & Certifications:

  • A valid Driver's License is required.

  • Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) class "A" preferred.

Travel Requirements:

  • Potential travel is required for temporary backup needs at other office locations.

Safety:

Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must have sufficient eyesight to judge distance/coordination of equipment and tools, be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time, be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, be able to wear personal protective equipment as necessary, be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day, have the endurance necessary to traverse various terrain, be capable of performing job duties throughout a standard 8- or 10-hour day, be able to communicate with others, read, write, and comprehend written/verbal job instructions and information, and communicate and handle conflict professionally.
