Position: Science Teacher - Salida High School
RESPONSIBILITIES: Work as a team member under the direction of the school principal. The district is looking for a Science teacher to work at Salida High School to work as a team member under the direction of the school principal. This position requires developing and implementing daily lesson plans based on Colorado state standards. The teacher will observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, and social development. The teacher will also instruct students individually and in groups, adapting teaching methods to meet students varying needs. The position requires planning and conducting activities for a balanced program of instruction for student's diverse backgrounds and abilities. This position requires a high degree of collaborative communication and leadership. It also requires substantial organizational and time management skills. The teacher must be able to work collaboratively with fellow teachers. The teacher is expected to participate in district development of curriculum and instruction.
DUTIES: * Teaches high school science classes * Ability to work with and create a positive rapport with students and the general public * Demonstrate successful teaching experience with high school aged students as well as a personal commitment to constant improvement as a teacher * A commitment to continuing enhancement of the learning experience * A commitment to working within the philosophy, standards, curriculum, scope, and sequence of the Science department * Perform other duties as appropriate in support of the high school program
PREFERRED SKILLS: * Successful teaching experience. * Be able to work effectively and create a positive rapport with students, staff, administration, parents and community members * Preference will be given to candidates with multiple endorsements * MA in Science is preferred * Experience with Advanced Placement is preferred * Experience using technology to support instruction
Conditions of employment: Selected applicant must verify past experience, hold a valid Colorado Department of Education teaching certificate, or qualify for an Alternative license.
Wages: $42,500.00/ annually
Job Location: Salida, CO
Shift: This is a full time position; 32 hours per week. * Salary is based on a 156 day work calendar
