Aston Carter Tax Accountant in Salem, Oregon

We are hiring for a Tax Accountant to join the team with an incredible company that offers amazing benefits. There are openings in both Salem and Lake Oswego.

Role in a nutshell:

Responsible for the general accounting function including preparing journal entries, maintaining balance sheet schedules and ledgers and account and bank reconciliations. Assisting with monthly closings and account analysis and supporting the Senior Accountant in carrying out the responsibilities of the accounting department.

General Tasks:

  • A combination of preparing journal entries, completing general ledger operations and preparation of monthly, quarterly, or annual financial statement.

  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts, prepare analysis of accounts as requested

  • Assist with year-end closings

  • Prepare tax computations and returns

  • Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts

  • Assist with payroll administration, monitor and resolve bank issues including fee anomalies and check differences

  • Account/bank reconciliations

  • Review expense reports for correction needed

  • Compile required documentation for firm’s file, and various other financial related activities.

More specifically:

  • Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information to prepare tax returns, financial reports, and tax planning by performing the following duties.

  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: other duties may be assigned.

  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.

  • Distributes expenditures, encumbrances, receipts, and receivables according to schedules.

  • Perform statistical analyses to determine trends, estimates, and significant changes, and writes narrative reports explaining findings.

  • Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position for other managers.

  • Audits contracts, orders, and vouchers, and prepares reports to substantiate individual transactions prior to settlement.

  • Determines proper handling of financial transactions and approves transactions within designated limits.

  • Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures.

  • Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.

  • Installs, modifies, documents, and coordinates implementation of accounting systems and accounting control procedures.

  • Devises and implements system for general accounting.

  • Makes recommendations regarding the accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures.

  • Conducts studies and submits recommendations for improving the organization's accounting operation.

  • Collects appropriate data and prepares federal, state, and local reports and tax returns.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3-5+ years of accounting experience

  • Tax accounting experience required CPA Preferred (or CPA eligible)

  • GAAP - Journal Entries, General Ledger, Reconciliations, Financial Statements

  • Savvy with Excel, and ability to pick up new systems quickly

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance - MBA or CPA preferred
