This position will play a key role in the development and implementation of software solutions required to support the smooth and efficient operation of Bookbyte services.
Duties and Responsibilities
Performs routine programming assignments requiring knowledge of established programming procedures and data processing requirements.
Refines data and formats final product which is very similar to the input or is well-defined when significantly different.
Maintains and modifies routine programs; makes approved changes by amending flow charts, developing detailed programming logic, and coding changes.
Tests and develops modifications and writes operational instructions.
Writes new program code using prescribed specifications, as appropriate.
Evaluates simple interrelationships between programs, IE: whether a contemplated change in one part of a program would cause unwanted results in a related part.
Analyzes performance of programs and takes action to correct deficiencies based on consultation with users and approval of supervisor.
Confers with users to gain understanding of needed changes or modifications of existing programs.
Provides on-call support and problem resolution for computer applications.
Uses judgment in selecting among authorized procedures and seeks assistance when guidelines are inadequate, significant deviations are proposed, or when unanticipated problems arise.
Maintains a broad knowledge of state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems.
Monitor and manage availability, latency, scalability and efficiency of Bookbyte services by engineering reliability into software and systems.
Review and influence ongoing design, architecture, standards and methods for operating services and systems.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Ability to investigate and analyze information and to draw conclusions.
Knowledge of established programming procedures and programming languages.
Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise.
Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
Ability to implement and troubleshoot programming changes and modifications.
Ability to determine computer problems and to coordinate hardware and/or software solutions.
Ability to write technical instructions in the use of programs and/or program modifications.
Ability to process computer data and to format and generate reports.
Ability to communicate with and interpret the operational requirements of end users.
Knowledge of computer flow charts and of programming logic and codes.
Solid understanding of object-oriented development principles and Software Development Life Cycle methodologies.
Familiar with developing web-based applications.
Must have excellent communication skills.
Minimum Job Qualifications
Three - five years experience as a Software Engineer or Computer Programmer; special consideration may be given to candidates with web programming experience related to e-commerce, experience working with SQL Server database including table design, query writing and optimization;
Experience with XML, HTML, HTML5 and CSS. Experience using ASP.net, Java Script, C#, IIS, AJAX.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science may be substituted for two years of working experience.
