Vertiv Corporation Sr. Technical Manager, Thermal Strategic Accounts in Saint Paul, Minnesota

POSITION SUMMARY The Sr. Technical Manager, Thermal Strategic Accounts maintains thermal technical support on customer projects/schedules, identifies and manages risks, scope of work and budget; ensures that operational teams and contractors have a clear understanding of client requirements. The Sr. Technical Manager, Thermal supports the Global Strategic Accounts (GSA) technical teams for new thermal products from design through implementations. Functions as customer advocate and interfaces with internal company departments. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages a select list of GSA customer accounts. Supports account plans to achieve both long and short-term operational and customer objectives for their data center Thermal requirements.
  • Support Thermal equipment selections and architecture.
  • Monitor Commissioning and IST topics/issues that need to be resolved in a timely manner. Assist in resolving any field application issues.
  • Provide regular updates with assigned customers on Vertiv's Thermal solutions and provide competitive advantages with Vertiv solutions.
  • Support and engage with the customers and their supporting consulting engineers on the thermal strategy to meet future market needs to keep Vertiv solutions in play.
  • Be considered the Expert in Thermal solutions and become the "Trusted Advisor" to the customer.
  • Support Customer Factory Acceptance Testing.
  • Support development and review of commissioning scripts and development or modification of SOO documents.
  • Become the technical interface with Service, Engineering and Offering Management for product improvements or resolution.
  • Provide support for First of Kind Solutions to make sure they execute at the customer flawlessly.
  • Assist sales as required with configurations for assigned accounts; occasionally, driving this activity as required within levels of authority.
  • Reviews project documentation such as reports, customer required documentation, updated drawings, etc. for consistency, accuracy, completeness, technical compliance, etc. within the account/contract requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7-10 years of experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of Thermal solutions and how they are applied in a data center environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Service industry experience required with knowledge of Thermal systems, critical space environments, service products, and clients.
  • Ability to work in a matrix management environment.
  • Strong computer skills including editing, formatting, and using templates in all Microsoft Office programs, use of internet for standards/products/manufacturer research, and operation of computer-controlled test equipment.
  • A high degree of creative ability and independent judgment.
  • The ability to think and act strategically, utilizing account plans to set specific account objectives.
  • Ability to take after hours call during nights, weekends, and holidays.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in business or engineering, mechanical engineering preferred or 10+ yrs experience in data center infrastructure design.

Total compensation ranges for other geographic localities may vary. The total compensation is based on an 80/20 split including base salary and Vertiv Sales Incentive. Certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonus, and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance and are role based. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee's role. The role is eligible to participate in a comprehensive and competitive benefits program, including medical, dental, vision, disability, PTO, holiday pay, and 401k.
