Inn at Perry Cabin Director of Rooms in Saint Michaels, Maryland

Responsible for the management and coordination of all departments in the Rooms Division, directing and providing primary leadership to Housekeeping, Front Office, Guest Services, Guest Experience, Valet/Bell Services, Waterfront and Spa. Ensure that the highest caliber of service is being offered to all guests in accordance with the Standards of Service provided by Inn at Perry Cabin and Preferred Hotels and Resorts, so that all expectations are met or exceeded.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Operations

  • Oversee all areas of the Housekeeping, Front Office, Guest Services, Guest Experience, Valet/Bell, Waterfront and Spa.
  • As a member of the Executive Team, work closely with each Executive Team Member in achieving hotels performance and financial goals and objectives.
  • Assist in establishing and creating goals and strategies for both the operational and financial success of your division.
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining hotel standards.

``` - Comply with all Standards of Service, and ensure Forbes service standards are implemented, crew members are trained in 5-star service standards and all crew members under supervision are complying in meeting expectations.

``` - Responsible for crew member compliance with hotel policies and procedures. Initiate disciplinary action when appropriate. - Interact in courteous and professional manner with all guests, staff and community members. - Respond in courteous, professional and rapid manner to resolve all guest and staff difficulties. - Apply principles of logical thinking to a wide range of standardized intellectual and practical problems to perform and direct many varied and complex tasks. - Supervise, direct, coordinate, influence and persuade staff to maintain service standards of hotel. - Interact with people beyond giving and receiving instructions, particularly interaction with supervisor, subordinates, co-workers, and guests in completing assignments, resolving staff and guest complaints. - Interpret and comply with a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic or schedule form. - Perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure. - Maintain safety and cleanliness of work area and ensure safety and cleanliness in all areas of departmental responsibility.

Communications and Training

  • Ensure that all unit staff attend required training in hazardous communication, safety, and sanitation as established by local and government regulations.
  • Interview applicants for departmental managers and any other positions as needed.
  • Monitor the hiring, evaluation, training and discipline of all hourly crew members by department supervisors to ensure consistency in administering direction; follow up with corrections where needed.
  • Mentor and train appropriately all Rooms Division Managers, train and develop crew members in an ongoing approach.
  • Constantly monitor crew member performance in all phases of service and job functions, ensuring that all procedures are carried out to divisional standards, Forbes service standards as well as Preferred Hotels and Resorts expectations, rectify any deficiencies with respective personnel.
  • Monitor the staffs interaction with guests, ensuring prompt and courteous service; resolve discrepancies with respective personnel.
  • Observe guest reactions and confer frequently with staff to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Always promote positive guest relations.
  • Monitor and handle guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction. Resolve and make it right, conduct thorough research to develop effective solutions and negotiate results and ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Provide feedback to all crew members on their performance. Handle disciplinary problems and counsel crew members and managers according to hotel standards.
  • Foster and promote a cooperative working climate, maximizing productivity and crew member morale for all levels of associates.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of implementing staffing guides.
  • Regular forecasting and monitoring of all expenses to ensure financial goals and targets are met.
  • Provide training, development, professional discipline and positive support for all management personnel to ensure qualitative standards and growth for both the individual and the operation.
  • Attend designated meetings. Conduct weekly meetings with divisional supervisors and review all information pertinent to the weeks business. Facilitate divisional and departmental meetings and strategic planning meetings.
  • Help conduct stand-up meetings; review all information pertinent to the days business.
  • Be knowledgeable of, implement, communicate, and comply with policies and standards of Perry Cabin Resort and Golf.
  • Always be an ambassador of the hotel and the company, in and outside of the workplace.
  • Ensure security and confidentiality of all guest and hotel information.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of ten years hotel experience with at least five years experience at theexecutive level in a luxury brand.

``` - Independent hotel background in a resort destination is also strongly preferred. - College / University degree preferred. - Excellent knowledge and experience with hotel operating systems such as Opera,Resort Suites, Knowcross or similar. - Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays - Proven background of guest service excellence and effective financials. - Must be able to read, write, and type in English.
