POSITION TITLE: Master Carpenter DEPARTMENT: Facilities SALARY: DOQ POSTING DATES: 8/1/24-8/15/24
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Individuals in positions in this class perform work activities associated with supervising staff involved in the construction, repair, and maintenance of building structures and fixtures.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Estimate time, labor and material costs for projects Prepare working drawings of projects. Requisition project material. Schedule and supervise in-shop repair and construction projects. Plan, schedule, and supervise the alteration, repair, and maintenance of buildings, structures, and fixtures. Supervise and coordinate the work activities of all trades involved in the construction and repair of wooden structures. Build and repair tables, benches, cabinets, counters, etc. Do hand and bench work in the carpentry shop. Select specified types of lumber and other material. Perform finish carpentry. Other duties as may be assigned.
RELATIONSHIP TO OTHER POSITIONS AND ORGANIZATIONAL ENTITIES: The Carpenter works with Facility Director and Maintenance Manager. Works with all departments and handles all work orders in a timely manner to ensure that safety is provided in the shop at all times.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a High School Diploma or G.E.D. Must have five years of experience as a journeyman Carpenter. Must have considerable specialized knowledge, skill and ability. Must have math skills. Must consent to a background check in order to qualify for a gaming license. Must pass random drug testing. Must have a valid drivers license. Heavy lifting may be required. Endure all weather conditions is required. Must be able to perform independently with little or no supervision.
