MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN - MACHINIST

The successful candidate will work in a maintenance focused machine shop providing support to the entire facility.

Summary: The Machine Repair is responsible for ensuring production and quality by guaranteeing the operation of mechanical equipment and machinery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Disassemble machines and take off parts for replacement or repair by using cranes, hoists, chain falls, hand tools, and jacks.

  • Examine or carry out tasks on broken machine parts and identify defective parts or give recommendations to supervisors on repair requirements.

  • Replace, fix or realign machine parts and accessories in line with production specifications.

  • Put machine parts together after accomplishing maintenance and repair work.

  • Completes appropriate paperwork and machine documentation.

  • Assists other maintenance team members in meeting department requirements while serving as a resource to production, engineering and other plant personnel. Other individual maintenance craft knowledge considered a plus.

  • Work independently with little supervision.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

  • Exhibit outstanding ability to learn and comprehend the fundamentals of the functioning machines.

  • Excellent general understanding of hydraulic systems with display of mastery in troubleshooting by utilizing deductive reasoning and schematics.

  • Shift is awarded by seniority; we run a 3 shift operation

    -Providing specialty machine shop support to production, maintenance, and engineering. -Fabricating fixtures and gages, repair or modifying existing parts, tools, and equipment. -Manufacturing fixtures, tooling, gages to blueprints and sketches and/or duplicating broken parts. -Tuning and adjustment of all of the above -Makes fixtures, gages, parts, etc. for a variety of applications in the plant and offers design input. -Machine parts to specifications using machine tools; lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders. -Design fixtures, tooling, and experimental parts to meet special engineering needs. -Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products and determine product dimensions and tolerances. -Measure, examine, and test completed units and equipment in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers. -Confer with engineering, supervisory, manufacturing personnel, and other craftsmen in order to exchange technical information and solve problems. -Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers. -Maintain 5S organizational and cleanliness standards in work area. -Positive attitude and customer service orientation; are critical to success

Qualifications

-Critical Thinking ¬¬ Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. -Complex Problem Solving ¬¬ Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information -Proficiency in blueprint reading and interpretation. -Strong background in measuring equipment, CNC/NC mills, CNC lathes, grinders, associated with tool making -Competent at manufacturing critical parts for quality, reverse engineering, and ensure all shop work conforms to prints and quality standards -CNC/NC programming of mills lathes and set up of required jobs related to tool making, modifications, repair, including welding, heat treat, and associated fabrication -Mechanical -- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. -Understand of and adherence to lock out/tag out procedures. -The candidate must be able to work independently, with little supervision in order to deliver jobs on time.

Education and/or Experience

Highschool Diploma or Equivalent (GED), 3+ years previous manufacturing experience, Journeyman's Card is preferred
