Cooke Aquaculture Hatchery Technician - Oak Bay in Saint John, New Brunswick
Kelly Cove Salmon Ltd., a division of Cooke Aquaculture Inc., a dynamic and growing east coast family company, with Platinum Member status in Canada’s Best Managed Companies Program, is offering a unique opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join the Company’s team as a Hatchery Technician at Oak Bay Hatchery.

The Role
Primary duties include:
Assist other aquaculture technicians in the operation of fish hatcheries.
Brood stock production and handling spawning, egg and fry production.
Attention to details
Ability to lift and carry brood fish
Computer literate
Ability to answer alarms
Willing to work varied or irregular shift including weekends.
Feed aquaculture stocks, vaccinate stocks, and perform culling.
Operate, maintain, and clean pumps, filters, tanks and other aquaculture equipment.
Keep daily records of water chemistry and oxygen.
Grade and weigh aquaculture stocks.
Handles chemicals with necessary PPE. Includes mandatory FIT testing (respirators).
The ideal candidate will have completed aquaculture training from a recognized educational institute. This requirement may be substituted with sufficient hands-on experience in spawning, egg incubation and early rearing of salmon fry.
Previous experience with water quality testing would be considered an asset.
