[STREET MAINTENANCE WORKER II JOB DESCRIPTION[: Operates County Road equipment and various hand tools such as trucks, one ton dump truck, single and tandem axle dump trucks, tractors, patch rollers, distributors, snow plow, compactors, chain saw, jack hammers, air compressors, heat lances, rotary drills, vibratory screed, concrete saw, portable striper, portable miller, tar pot, lute, come-along, floats, sweepers, shovels, picks, axes, carpenter tools and mechanics tools. [ Maintains and repairs bridges and streets; patches potholes; removes, places and finishes concrete; rebuilds fences; paves roads; installs culverts, sewers and pipes; repairs curbs; and maintains and repairs storm sewers. Performs signal and sign maintenance. Hauls and transports materials and equipment to and from the job site. Cuts grass and trims vegetation along County roads. Replaces dirt and re-seeds areas after repair has been completed. Directs traffic around work sites. Cleans, maintains and repairs equipment and vehicles. Operates snow removal equipment and removes snow in the winter. Assists mechanics when needed. Answers the phone. Checks and replies to citizen complaints. Performs general custodial duties in maintenance facilities. Truck Driver/Laborer II may lead small crew on routine tasks. Performs other duties as assigned. *[Street Maintenance Worker III - $46,242.36 - $57,443.92 per year *[STREET MAINTENANCE WORKER III JOB DESCRIPTION: [The purpose of this position is to operate a variety of County highway equipment for the purpose of maintaining and constructing County roads, bridges and storm drains; and operate a crew. The work is performed under the supervision of the Leadperson/Operator. [ Operates excavators, backhoes, aerial lifts, road graders, Bobcats, rollers, pavers, rubber tire loaders, sweeper, snowplows, dump trucks, and skid steer loaders for the purpose of maintaining and repairing County roads, bridges and drainage systems. Operates sand blasters, welders, hand excavation tools, saws, common hand tools, and paint sprayers for the purpose of maintaining and repairing County roads, bridges and drainage systems. Runs a crew Patches roads and maintains pavement and asphalt. Removes, sets forms, pours, and finishes concrete. Transports materials to and from job sites. Maintains County vehicles and equipment. Trims trees and vegetation along County roads. Replaces dirt and seeds work areas. Maintains storm drains. Replaces pipes, clears debris, and patches holes on storm drains. Clears and plows snow of roads. Records daily usage of equipment and supplies. Fabricates needed materials. Cleans vehicles, equipment and maintenance facilities. Flags traffic in construction zones. *[Street Maintenance Worker I - $37,223.27 - 46,240.09 per year *[STREET MAINTENANCE WORKER I JOB DESCRIPTION: Performs a variety of manual tasks in the repair and construction of County streets, roads and bridges. Operates a dump truck, hauling black top, gravel, rock and other materials to the work place. Transports equipment and supplies to the work sites; performs light maintenance and repair tasks on vehicles and equipment. Performs manual labor including digging, cleaning ditches, shoveling and spreading sand, gravel and salt; cuts grass, weeds and brush; erects concrete forms, pours concrete walls, prepares bridge decks and footings; repairs asphalt roads by patching holes, repairing sink spots and sealing cracks. Occasionally operates heavy equipment such as rollers, pavers, mowers, loaders and backhoes. May be asked to construct street and other specialt signs and install and maintain them on county streets and roads as required by the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. Installs traffic counter, takes traffic counts and makes reports. Maintains sign making and installation equipment and street striper. On-call 24 hours a day to provide traffic control assistance in emergencies such as traffic accidents or natural disasters. Operates snowplow and salt spreader as needed for snow removal.
