ST CHARLES COUNTY GOVERNMENT Public Health Intern in Saint Charles, Missouri

The St. Charles County Public Health Department is offering an internship opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Public Health with a special focus on Epidemiology. This is a paid internship working 8-20 hours per week beginning May 13th, 2024 and ending August 9th, 2024. This position may be hybrid, requiring in-person work as well as projects that may be done remotely.

GOALS and LEARNING OUTCOMES:

  • Gain hands-on experience while shadowing an epidemiologist during scheduled meetings and daily responsibilities.
  • Assist with community health improvement projects (Community Health Assessment, Community Health Improvement Plan, Strategic Planning) involving data collection, data analysis, data communications, and presentations.
  • Gain hands-on experience involving communicable disease investigations.
  • Develop a solid understanding the ten essential public health services.
  • Complete specific objectives required for educational program.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Pursuing a graduate degree in Public Health - having completed a minimum of three (3) full semesters of college coursework including a minimum of two (2) courses in Epidemiology - Include a copy of your transcript with your application and resume when applying.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Employment is contingent on successfully passing a full criminal background check.
