[JOB DESCRIPTION: [The purpose of this position is to prepare and prosecute felony criminal cases under the direction of an Asst. Prosecuting Attorney IV, First Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, or elected Prosecuting Attorney. Individuals may supervise a team of attorneys and/ or support staff; prepare and prosecute criminal cases in the criminal, bad check, or child support unit.]{calibri",sans-serif"=""}]{calibri",sans-serif"=""}]{calibri",sans-serif"=""}]{calibri",sans-serif"=""}]{calibri",sans-serif"=""}**

+-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | - Generally assists the elected Prosecuting Attorney as directed in | | the proper discharge of the duties of his office, per RSMo | | 56.151, at the pleasure of the elected Prosecuting Attorney. | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | - Represents the Prosecuting Attorneys Office and the State of | | Missouri in felony criminal cases, through written and oral | | advocacy, including trials, hearings, motions, post-conviction | | review proceedings, misdemeanor appeals and Grand Jury | | proceedings. | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | - Prepares legal filings including charging instruments, motions, | | proposed orders and other legal documents. | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | - Oversees the discovery practice on criminal cases and negotiates | | dispositions of criminal cases per the direction and policies of | | the elected Prosecutor. | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | - Reviews warrant applications, directs criminal investigations, | | seeks search warrants and investigative subpoenas in conjunction | | with law enforcement officers from various law enforcement | | agencies. | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | - Maintains and correctly applies current and in-depth knowledge of | | pertinent criminal law, constitutional law, rules of evidence, | | and rules of criminal procedure.
