SKILLS: Capable of handling stress and working with the public. Ability to communicate professionally with clients, coworkers and other agencies or organizations. Proficiency in speaking both English and Spanish is preferred, but not required.

DUTIES: The Job of Clerk and Recorder can be broken down into three major categories: Motor Vehicle Services, Recording, and Elections. The Saguache County office focuses on cross training every employee into each position so that staffing may be shifted to meet the needs of each department as business dictates.

Staff Motor Vehicle Duties: The Department of Motor Vehicles includes all state motor vehicle functions within Saguache county including title and registration of all vehicles. All Motor Vehicle Department operations are created and guided by state legislation. The Department works as a team to stay up to date on any changes to legislation that may affect the operations so that necessary changes may be implemented in order to accurately complete job duties within the law. Possible duties include: 1. Answer/field phone calls 2. Determine acceptability of documents submitted for applications for motor vehicle titles, enter data into the computer, and return incomplete paperwork, as needed 3. Assist the public at the counter to include issuing license plates, tabs, titles and placards 4. Process all motor vehicle titles, including entering data into DRIVES Receives, open and date-stamps all mail for processing 5. Performs general office support 6. Meets DRIVES training requirements, annually 7. Give technical information to the public via phone and/or in-person 8. Keep abreast of new laws affecting the department and implement the same. 9. Provide instructions and procedures and assist in completing appropriate forms 10. Assist with inventory of computer and office equipment 11. Perform daily balancing of fees and coding according to accounts 12. Night deposit from daily transactions including end-of-day reports 13. Perform quarterly inventory of plates and tabs 14. Maintain Inventory, order supplies and forms when necessary, including state forms, plates, placards and tabs 15. Work with the Assessor and SLV GIS Authority to maintain accurate address records 16. Collect associate fees due 17. Daily reconciliation with the State All Staff Recording Duties: 1. Receive and record all documents with fees received in the mail or over the counter and assign appropriate reception number 2. Enter data via computer-lists legal descriptions and grantor-grantee 3. Communicates with the public via telephone and in person to answer questions, assist and instruct in locating documents in the old books and on the computer 4. Scan recorded documents, ensure accuracy for permanent record, run copies, and distribute originals or copies to designated parties 5. Proof data entry and make appropriate corrections and clarifications. Verify data and print releases, grantor-grantee listings, reception listing and run address labels on printer 6. Maintain records for safekeeping 7. Scan maps into the system for recording as well as depositing maps 8. Maintain integrity of deposited and recorded maps 9. Explain marriage license application process, issue and record marriage licenses 10. Meet training requirements 11. Night deposit from daily transactions and including end-of-day reports 12. Collect associated fees due 13. Work with iCounty to make sure that the indexing of the older records goes smoothly Other responsibilities and duties for Elections, Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners, and Clerk to the Board of Equalization to be discussed further with Employer.

WAGES: $17.59 per hour or more, depending on experience.

DURATION: This is a permanent full time 40 hours per week position.

SHIFT: Monday- Friday 8AM to 4PM.

JOB SITE: Saguache, Colorado, Saguache County.
