Summary: Sets up, adjusts and operates a rotary horizontal wheel surface grinder and other surface grinders to grind flat or irregular surfaces to close tolerances and impart required finish..
Duties & Responsibilities: Set-up and operate various surface grinding machines. Read and interpret router, blueprints, planning sheets, sketches and related technical data to determine requirements, fixture set-up procedures, control setting and machining methods and sequences. Plan operating procedures on rotary wheel-type grinder and other grinders to grind flat surfaces; select abrasive wheels, change wheel segments and dress wheels, set wheel and table feeds, use magnetic table and chucks or claimp and secure single or multiple work piece setups; calibrate machine adjusting devices. Verify jobs have proper jigs and fixture. Mount, align and secure tooling, attachments and work piece. Start up machine and monitor display operations. Verify dimension of finished work peice to conformance with print
