Sr. Accountant - Pooling (Hybrid)

PRIMARY PURPOSE : The Sr Accountant is responsible for overseeing the completion of various accounting and financial activities for risk pool clients. Completes analysis, reports, audits, and ensures compliance is following GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) rules.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide oversight and ensure accuracy and timeliness of payable and receivable functions within the department.

  • Provides innovative and effective analysis to enhance management understanding of financial issues.

  • Ensures procedures and controls are in place to maintain accuracy and meet audit requirements of both internal and external risk pool clients.

  • Monitors and maintains compliance of company’s policies, procedures, and internal controls.

  • Prepare annual budgets and other annual reporting processes for risk pool clients.

  • Prepare presentations for risk pool Boards of Directors, Committees, and other parties.

  • Effectively communicate with investment advisors and treasury managers.

  • Prepare risk pool clients’ quarterly financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

  • Oversee annual financial audit of risk pool clients.

  • Maintain working knowledge of claims, underwriting, general ledger, and other key information systems used in the administration and management of assigned risk pool clients.

  • Monitors changes in GAAP reporting requirements and works closely with management to ensure accurate GAAP presentation of financial statements.

  • Ensures consolidated balance sheets and income statements are consolidated and reconciled in accordance with GAAP.

  • Responsible for preparation of ad hoc financial reporting and accounting projects as assigned.

  • Communicates issues and other applicable information to management.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Supports the organization's quality program(s).

  • Travels as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Licensing

BS/BA degree or equivalent with major in accounting required. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.

Experience

Six (6) years accounting or related business experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, regulations and practices.

  • Obtain and maintain expertise of financial systems such as SAP and other systems utilized in the consolidations of the company’s financial statements

  • Ability to perform a volume of numerical detail work with speed and accuracy, to make difficult mathematical computations with and without mechanical assistance, and to apply mathematical reasoning and analysis

  • Excellent oral and written communication, including presentation skills

  • PC literate, including Microsoft Office products

  • Analytical and interpretive skills

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work in a team environment

As required by law, Sedgwick provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in jurisdictions requiring pay transparency in job postings. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and cost of specific location. For the jurisdiction noted in this job posting only, the range of starting pay for this role is $75,000 to $85,000 USD annual salary . A comprehensive benefits package is offered including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, 401k and matching, PTO, disability and life insurance, employee assistance, flexible spending or health savings account, and other additional voluntary benefits.
