  • Translate client requirements into clear and specified objectives for efficient HVAC designs; including ductwork, piping plumbing systems, equipment sizing and selection

  • Lead the development of project specifications, working drawings, instructions and other related documents of complex projects.

  • Assists in the mechanical systems document production effort, including making assignments, reviewing work, and meeting deadlines for project document deliverables and coordinating with the HGA team.

  • Researches non-routine code issues and obtain interpretations from code officials.

  • Prepares engineering studies and schematic design for new systems and analyze operation of existing systems.

  • Produces sketches and system schematics for complicated design tasks such as layout of mechanical rooms.

  • Produces drawings and documents to assure compliance with company design and production standards. Assures that drawings and designs are in accordance with design standards.

  • Makes calculations, using engineering formulas and skills for mechanical designs such as heating and cooling loads, energy models, documentation of ASHRAE 62.1 compliance, etc.

  • Selects scheduling equipment, designs and documents ductwork, piping, plumbing, fire protection, and controls systems.

  • Prepares addendum and change orders. Uses computer programs and spread sheets for engineering analysis and presentations.

  • B.S. degree, Mechanical Engineering or Associate Degree, Mechanical Systems Design preferred

  • A minimum of 15 years of mid- to large-project experience, required

  • Knowledge of Revit and AutoCad

  • Working knowledge of energy use calculation software

  • Energy modeling and commissioning experience are preferred
