Position Overview

Sactown Sports has a rare opening, we are looking for an experienced Radio Producer/Assistant Program Director (APD). As the Producer, you will assist in producing entertaining and compelling programming that informs, engages, and entertains sports fans on broadcast, digital, and social platforms for Sactown Sports. As an APD, you will be responsible for creating and preparing original and creative content for both the on-air product and our digital platforms. The ideal candidate for this challenging role must have the ability to coach, be coached, and fill-in when needed on-air and/or behind the scenes. The APD will assist the Program Director with Station branding, imaging, and operations consistent with the Companys Core Values and Mission, as well as complying with FCC rules and regulations.

Note:Work configurations are subject to change based on business needs and at company discretion.

  • This position is an onsite role that requires the employee to regularly work at our Sacramento office location.

What You Will Do:

Primary job duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Plan, prepare, produce and execute content in an entertaining and professional manner in a style consistent with the standards of performance as established by the Program Director
  • Execute producing live and local content via on-air and digital platforms
  • Find, evaluate, and research sports stories daily and pitch ideas
  • Maintain and monitor Stations live YouTube streams
  • Maintain daily log through the use of Zetta with approval of station clock from Program Director
  • Work directly with Program Director on Station imaging which includes but is not limited to benchmark segments, promos, show intros, rejoiners, and legal IDs
  • Manage and aid in the development of part-time staff and weekend/fill-in talent
  • Oversee weekend and holiday scheduling of station operations
  • Ability to coach and help improve the capabilities of on-air talent, producers, and board operators
  • Book guests and manage show contacts to maximize station content and Sactown Sports digital reach
  • Fill-in as an on-air talent when needed at Program Directors discretion
  • Act as a liaison with sales, traffic, and digital departments to ensure station goals are met
  • Help administer contests and answer listener phone calls, including screening listener calls for live shows
  • Running the control board

Skills and Experience We Are Looking For:

  • 1-3 years talk show producer experience or equivalent
  • Experience analyzing audience data and identifying behavioral trends
  • Strong knowledge of local sports teams, preferably Sacramento Kings, San Francisco 49ers and Giants
  • Passion and vision for emerging media
    • Strong working knowledge of the audio equipment necessary for on-air broadcasts
  • Knowledge of studio equipment and transmitter remote control operation
  • Working knowledge of Zetta (direct experience with Zetta is a plus), or other radio traffic software
  • General knowledge of PPM Analysis (direct experience with PPM Analysis is a plus)
  • Experience with Adobe Audition or similar audio editing software
  • Experience booking show guests
  • Experience conducting live interviews
  • Design, photo, and video editing skills
  • Ability to be coached and willingness to grow within the role
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Capable of managing multiple projects and teams on an on-going basis
  • Creative and strategic problem solver
  • Able to tailor programming content for a variety of platforms
  • Strong understanding of the current digital and social media landscape, including creating content for Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and other platforms, best practices, success metrics and emerging platforms

Physical Demands

  • Receive, process, and maintain information through oral and/or written communication effectively.
  • Manual dexterity and fine motor skills to operate computer keys and general office equipment. Ability to work on a computer for prolonged periods of time.
  • Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Lift, move, and carry up to 20 pounds on occasion.

Compensation Range

$21.00 - $29.00 per hour

Compensation will be determined by an evaluation of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant along with internal and external benchmarks.
