The Gang Intelligence Analyst will utilize their expertise in identifying gang and criminal threats, new and emerging threats, and the ability to concisely articulate those findings in formal work products and reports. The candidate will have a strong working knowledge of the area of responsibility in which they are being assigned, to include the task force partners of the CDCR, FBI, BOP, LVMPD and ADOC as well as the greater IC. The candidate will adapt to the continually changing intelligence needs and priorities of the FBI and its partners and the LE community. The candidate will bring and utilize their LE contacts and is a demonstrated expert regarding prison gangs, corrections, intelligence collection, and/or LE investigations.
Responsibilities
Contributes to a hybrid work role, address and satisfy FBI, CDCR, BOP and other partners’ intelligence collection and dissemination needs to answer intelligence threats and gaps related to gang and other criminal threats, as assigned.
Monitors and utilizes their historic expertise in keeping current of threats facing the United States Intelligence Communities (USIC), to include the top prison gang threats operating both inside and outside correctional institutions.
The SMEs would work closely with FBI Violent Gangs Safe Streets Task Forces (VGSSTFs), CDCR Special Services Units (SSU), parole, and county jails along with other correctional systems throughout the United States. They have expertly identified prison gang conspiratorial ties from federal and state prisons to county jails, and to the community.
Identifies gang leadership, their criminal associates and facilitators, methods of communications and criminal strategies and activities.
As representative of the CITF, the gang specialists will facilitate outreach and integration efforts to the various CITF partners, in addition to FBI HQ units, FBI field offices, and other FBI task forces, such as safe streets or gang units, and other law enforcement and correctional organizations.
This position is not remote, and the candidate is required to work in FBI/CITF or FBI Field Office space to foster relationships.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 6+years of general experience, of which 4 years must be specialized years of direct experience working gangs, criminal enterprises.
Specialized Experience:
If candidate does not have a bachelor’s degree, the total years of experience shall be 14 years, inclusive of 12 years specialized experience at minimum. 8 years of specialized experience can be substituted in lieu of a degree.
Active Top Secret security clearance
Familiarity with CDCR / Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP) administration operating procedures and policies, highly desirable and critical.
Experience with a wide variety of information systems, to include federal, state and local law enforcement and intelligence databases, commercial software and public source systems.
Familiarity with CDCR databases, highly desirable and critical.
Experience handling sensitive intelligence within the IC, to include IC product production, handling and dissemination.
Experience in synthesizing vast amounts of data to derive meaningful actionable or informative intelligence products to the IC, to include strong written and oral communication skills.
Experience in identifying emerging threats or trends related to gangs operating inside and outside of prisons and their effect on communities.
Experience in working with multiple agencies in a task force environment while using intelligence to identify subjects, associates, methods of operations, communications, and de-confliction of investigative or analytical efforts.
Experience in interagency liaison and working in a task force environment.
Strong presentation skills, to include producing written reports, providing oral briefings and developing support materials such as charts, PowerPoint presentations, and other handouts/pamphlets.
Successfully working in a constantly changing environment and adapting to the shift of work priorities and direction.
Pay Range
$93,600
