Sweetser is opening a Transitional Aged Youth Residential Unit in Saco!

Join a new dynamic team providing support to individuals with mental illness, within the framework of recovery and resiliency, providing a positive environment to assist in the development of living skills and meeting goals, while monitoring and role modeling health and safety.

The Supervisor maintains ongoing unit residential effectiveness by assuring the administrative coordination of a variety of safety, therapeutic, and operational issues. Responsible for administrative activities and oversight of the Transitional Aged Youth program and supervises the Transitional Aged Youth Specialists.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Supports and articulates the program and organization mission to staff, clients, providers and others.

  • Through policy, behavioral example and leadership, establishes a program culture of mutual support & respect, personal responsibility & empowerment and continuing creative improvement in staff skills and program services.

  • In collaboration with Clinical Supervisor, plans the program’s direction, sets program goals, and develops program policies that reflect the mission of the program and the organization.

  • Organizes program structure to support the implementation of identified direction, goals and policies and leads staff in implementing them.

  • Participates in the development of and monitors the program budget, ensuring that budget targets are met. Establishes and implements productivity expectations.

  • Monitors program revenues, expenditures, resource needs and utilization; manages resources to correspond with budgetary requirements.

  • Monitors and ensures quality of care in service provision, risk assessment, collaboration and documentation.

  • Coordinates and manages the food service in the program. This includes menu planning, food purchasing, food storage, preparation and serving.

  • Actively participates in the Continuous Quality Improvement process through the formulation of indicators, the meeting of thresholds, the evaluation of outcomes and participatory planning for service improvement

  • Ensures that the program meets all organization and licensing standards, regulations and policies, including the posting and notification of Client Rights and grievance procedures information, the consistent adherence to client confidentiality standards and maintenance of safe program practices, including the consistent practice of universal precautions.

  • Ensures that the Human Rights of clients in the program are respected and protected.

  • Ensures that all clinical documentation is completed in an accurate, complete and timely manner in compliance with all legal, licensing and regulatory requirements.

  • Serve as Supervisor on Duty when assigned by assuming responsibility for phone coverage, crisis intervention, ensuring adequate staffing, and good communication with appropriate on call administrator.

  • Ensure proper staffing levels by coordinating with Human Resources regarding hiring, recruitment, and retention of employees.

  • Collaboration with the training team to meet requirements of licensing needs.

  • Development of staff through on the job coaching and supervisory debriefings.

  • Maintain clear understanding and oversee compliance with licensing regulations and COA standards.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the organization’s safety policies and practices by attending required safety programs and reporting all accidents and suspected safety hazards to supervisor.

  • Fulfill job function by participating as an active member in all organization training and leadership training for supervisors, and by participating on organization task forces.

  • Ability to support and recognize the important role volunteers play. Sweetser employees work with, support, collaborate with volunteers, and promote opportunities for volunteer engagement.

  • Follow suicide safer care practices.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in professional clinical discipline, or at least 5 years residential experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Must maintain a valid state driver’s license.

  • MHRT-1 certification upon hire or completion of certification within the one (1) year of employment.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience working with dual diagnoses (MH/SUD) or substance use disorder preferred.

  • Two (2) years of supervisory/management experience in a clinical setting.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with other professionals.

  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to clients and other employees of the organization.

  • Intermediate computer proficiency.

  • Training or experience sufficient to coordinate and manage the program’s food service. This may include on-the-job as well as other training or experience, to be completed within 90 days after commencing work at the program if not already possessed.
