Advanced Mechanical Design Engineer (Rotating Equipment)
As an Advanced Mechanical Design Engineer (Rotating Equipment) here at Honeywell, you will utilize your expertise in mechanical design and engineering principles to develop innovative solutions for our customers. You will be responsible for designing and optimizing rotating equipment, such as pumps, compressors, and turbines, to meet the evolving needs of our clients. Collaborating with a team of engineers, you will play a pivotal role in developing cutting-edge products and driving technological advancements in the field of rotating equipment.
You will report directly to our Engineering Manager and you'll work out of our Des Plaines, IL location on a hybrid work schedule, except for the first 90 days.
In this role, you will have a significant impact on Honeywell by designing and developing high-performance rotating equipment that meets customer requirements and industry standards. Your expertise in mechanical design, analysis, and testing will contribute to the success of our products and the satisfaction of our customers.

The annual base salary or/ hourly pay range for this position is $108,600 -$120,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. considerations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Specification of rotating equipment for LNG applications
Generating requisitions for various types of rotating equipment such as hot centrifugal fans and blowers, pumps, and compressors
Incorporating applicable code and customer requirements in order to produce a complete technical definition of the equipment
Assuming the primary liaison role with various outside suppliers
Technically evaluating bids and participating in the supplier selection process
Reviewing supplier designs against licensor requirements, code requirements, and customer requirements
Coordinating with suppliers throughout the fabrication phase of the project
Visiting shops for kickoff meetings, critical inspections, and in order to provide feedback to improve future designs
Working closely with all members of the project team including quality assurance, piping, instrumentation, electrical, process, structural designers, purchasing personnel, and project managers to meet project requirements for rotating equipment.
Staying current with applicable API standards for pumps and compressors
Troubleshoot design issues and issue resolution.
Working with team to update infrastructure.
Provide sales support to review customer specifications and provide cost estimates for static equipment.
YOU MUST HAVE
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
Experience in rotating equipment design and specifications for LNG applications.
Experience in the specification of rotating equipment is required
Experience with High Temperature Centrifugal Fans / Blowers is a plus
Experience with pumps, compressors, lube oil systems, and seals is a plus
Experience in an equipment manufacturing environment is a plus
Good working knowledge and use of the following software applications is desired: Adobe Acrobat Standard and Microsoft Office (Word, EXCEL, Power Point)
Organizational skills desired include a disciplined approach to maintaining project files for team use and good documentation of correspondence and issue resolution
Capable of multi-tasking to maintain contributions on schedule for several projects simultaneously
Ability to communicate well with suppliers in both written and verbal communication is desired
Ability to work well in a team environment and provide proper updating of Project managers, Project Engineers, and Procurement of status of requisitions and document reviews
