Inventory Clerk Job Description
Position Summary: The Inventory Clerk is responsible for tracking, monitoring, and maintaining the company's inventory levels. They ensure that stock levels are accurate and sufficient to meet operational needs and assist with stocking, recordkeeping, and reporting discrepancies.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Management:
- Track and record stock levels using inventory management systems.
- Monitor incoming and outgoing stock for accuracy.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and reconcile discrepancies.
Stock Handling:
- Receive, label, and store incoming inventory.
- Organize and maintain inventory storage areas.
- Prepare orders for shipment or internal use.
Reporting & Documentation:
- Maintain detailed inventory records and generate inventory reports.
- Report shortages, damages, and any inventory-related issues to supervisors.
- Work with procurement and sales teams to forecast inventory needs.
Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure proper handling and storage of all materials.
- Follow company policies regarding inventory management and health & safety standards.
Qualifications & Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent (some positions may require additional education).
- Experience with inventory management systems (e.g., ERP or WMS software).
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Basic math and computer skills (Microsoft Excel proficiency is a plus).
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy items (if required).
Work Environment:
- Warehouse, retail, or manufacturing environments.
- May involve standing for extended periods and occasional heavy lifting.
