Netflix Manager, Production Management, Italy in Rome, Italy

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Executive to help manage Netflix’s original content, including fiction and unscripted TV and films. The role (Manager, Production Management) is a permanent position that will report to the Head of Production - Italy, based out of Rome. The Production team is responsible for supervising all operational aspects of the titles produced for Netflix Italy and plays a key role in executing Netflix’s content and production strategy in Italy, working collaboratively with the different Netflix departments including Creative, Production Finance and Legal.

Responsibilities include: managing multiple projects in different stages, from the development phase until launch, approving key BTL talent roles, reviewing production plans and budgets, providing early guidance for projects, curating and supporting local production relationships, supporting/suggesting best practices from development through delivery, and also leading initiatives that will drive the local business forward such as sustainability, new technologies, implementing better workflow and fostering external relationships.

This is a demanding and fast-moving position and a successful candidate will be proactive, innovative, self-driven, and able to juggle multiple and diverse responsibilities with a strong emphasis on organization and attention to detail at all times, have great judgment and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work closely with Creative Executives to set up new productions by reviewing and approving Production Partners, key Heads of Departments, schedules, and budgets, to flag possible issues and identify solutions.

  • Work with different Netflix departments like Post Production, VFX, Creative, Finance, Legal, Public Policy & external production teams on establishing workflows across multiple projects simultaneously in different phases of production and support key stakeholders by providing the context and/or expertise in business-critical decisions.

  • Support the Head of Production and the Production team to develop, communicate and implement an operational strategy for the local slate of Netflix projects.

  • Regularly align with Netflix colleagues across EMEA and the Globe to share best practices and integrate new learnings from other regions.

  • Work closely with the Production Finance team to track and manage all costs, keeping stakeholders informed and working with external partners to ensure we meet deadlines and stay within budget.

  • Collaborate with internal teams including Safety, Security, Production HR, Production Solutions, Sustainability and Inclusion to support Production Partners in providing safe, inclusive, and innovative production spaces.

  • Identify industry trends and potential opportunities for operational improvement.

  • Implement and support production training initiatives.

  • Challenge existing approaches, and suggest new ways to solve issues on various productions.

  • Build and maintain a strong connection with the industry and BTL talents.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive (10+) production management experience as a Production Executive or Head of Production in the film and TV industry, including previous experience producing high-end content (TV and/or film).

  • Experience managing the production of local TV and/or feature films (scripted and/or non-fiction). Knowledge of the service market for international productions is desirable but not a requirement.

  • An understanding of the key drivers of the production lifecycle and an ability to manage trade offs to remain on schedule and budget whilst retaining the creative vision and a collaborative partnership with the Creative leaders

  • Ability to handle a fast-paced environment simultaneously supervising multiple projects at various points of production (from development through delivery).

  • Strong stakeholder management skills with an ability to build extensive and productive working relationships with key people both within the organization and across the external media industry.

  • Access to a roster of high-quality vendors and talent in Italy and strong familiarity across the Italian production market.

  • Flexible attitude to work, able to respond to urgent or important matters in a timely manner.

  • Ability to be discrete and maintain confidential information, with a solid understanding of how to prioritize and respond accordingly.

  • A desire to continue learning to ensure understanding of current production processes and a sense of curiosity about how they could be improved.

  • Fluency in both written and spoken Italian and English is required.

  • Effective communication skills and the ability to multitask.

  • Proficiency in Movie Magic Budgeting, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, and Google Mail.
