  • Rome’s historical markers help document the city’s history and gives insight into the culturally rich heritage.

  • Population- 36,332 (2019 census)

  • Developed a regional center for the fields of medical care and education

  • In addition to its public-school system, it has several private schools. Higher-level educational institutions include private Berry College and Shorter University, and the public Georgia Northwestern Technical College and Georgia Highlands College.

  • Largest city near the center of the triangular area defined by the Interstate highways between Atlanta, GA, Birmingham, AL, and Chattanooga, TN.

The role you’ll contribute:

GENERAL SUMMARY :

Organizes and facilitates activities associated with Quality Management on assigned nursing departments and other hospital departments. Employs techniques and tools associated with continuous Quality Improvement to assist teams in achieving goals for improvement. Works extensively with physicians, nurses, and other hospital staff in carrying out this function.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills (respectful and courteous) when interacting with co-workers, physicians, and colleagues in other departments, in person or on the telephone.

  • Demonstrates age-specific knowledge of physical, psychosocial and developmental needs of patients.

  • Considers factors related to costs and efficiency within department and organization during daily activities

  • Concurrently reviews charts and ensures abstractions are accurate and complete.

  • Successfully completes, submits, and presents reports for meetings within required timeframes.

  • Facilitates organizational compliance with required data reporting through chart reviews and data extraction.

  • Promotes improved outcomes of care through increasing organizational knowledge of and compliance with quality metrics.

  • Promotes organizational compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and state and federal regulations through quality management activities.

  • Explores opportunities to improve patient outcomes through performance improvement activities.

  • Uses knowledge of professional standards of care when evaluating patient care and making recommendations.

  • Demonstrates commitment to professional and personal growth.

  • Applies knowledge of performance improvement methods including the use of data analysis and reporting to current clinical programs or projects.

  • Compiles data reports, assists in data analysis and development of PI action plans for units, divisions, or teams, as needed.

  • Facilitates compliance with regulations and policies and uses PI process through:

  • RCAs

  • FMEAs – (Pro-active risk assessment)

  • Mock patient tracers

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED :

  • Prior experience in quality management and/or utilization/resource management activities such as chart reviews, data extraction, data collation, data analysis.

  • Word processing (PC applications) skills, able to prepare reports and simple tables.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:

  • Cerner usage

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing

  • Bachelors degree in Nursing, management or other field or currently enrolled in an accredited BSN program and within 2 years from completion.

  • Five (5) years prior work experience as a staff nurse in an acute care hospital

  • Experience with team facilitation in a continuous quality improvement environment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

  • Five – Seven(5-7) years of RN experience in health care preferred

  • 3 -5 years Quality Improvement experience

  • 2 years experience with data analysis and interpretation preferred

  • 2 years experience with advanced PC applications preferred (spreadsheet and graphics)

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED :

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with current license

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:

  • CPHQ, Risk Management or other QA/UR certification preferred
