BREWER SCIENCE INC Process Chemist III in Rolla, Missouri

rewer Science, Inc. is a major innovator of high-technology solutions for the semiconductor / microelectronics markets. We are currently seeking a purpose-driven candidate with an ownership mentality to fill an open position as a Process Chemist III. This position will be located in Rolla, MO.

Summary: The Process Chemist acts as the technical resource for product development. This role designs and conducts laboratory and pilot-scale experiments, analyses, and processes to develop new product offerings.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform sample preparation.
  • Conduct experiments, including chemical reactions, under supervision.
  • Process data and provide an analysis summary.
  • Help create new testing processes.
  • Have knowledge and understanding of safety and housekeeping standards and practice in daily activities.
  • Learn and keep familiar with lab procedures.
  • Keep a well-documented laboratory notebook and have it co-signed within two weeks.
  • Communicate with supervisor and team members.
  • Present project updates during team meetings.
  • Take ownership of development tasks within projects as assigned.
  • Design and conduct experiments, including synthesis, sample preparation, and performance characterization, under minimal supervision.
  • Process data and provide an analysis summary, with the opportunity to present results at group or company meetings.
  • Responsible for communicating with supervisor and team members and may be assigned to cross-functional teams.
  • Conducts experiments and routine characterization of materials with minimum supervision.
  • Performs basic method development, expansion, validation, and documentation.
  • Author reports on results obtained from material characterization and routine testing.
  • Participate in the development of new laboratory processes and procedures as required.
  • Implement efficiency or cost reduction initiatives as appropriate.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment.
  • Train other employees on product, processes, and quality procedures.
  • Create new testing processes and improve upon current processes.

Education and Credentials:

  • Bachelors degree in chemistry or chemical engineering and 2-4 years of industry experience or
  • Master's degree in chemistry or chemical engineering.
  • Desirable (Equivalent combination of education and related experience or MS/PhD degree)

Technical Competencies and Skills

  • Proficient in operating analytical instruments and equipment in cleanroom and have knowledge of their operating principles.
  • Intermediate understanding of BSI product chemistry, material properties, and Design of Experiments.
  • Familiarity with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Experience with standard business letter and report formatting sufficient to prepare data, reports, and procedure manuals accurately.
  • General knowledge of computer applications (especially Microsoft Office) and basic office equipment sufficient to perform the major job duties and tasks.
