The Home Depot Design Center (HDDC) Showroom Consultant will greet both walk-in and appointment customers warmly. They will seek to understand the customer's project goals such as design style, timelines and budget as well as help the customer understand the design and install process to properly set customer expectations. Associates in this position provide fast, friendly service to clients and are responsible for assessing their needs and providing assistance and take notes and document key information about the customer s project. They know how to greet, qualify, recommend and close every customer for a site analysis (measure) and know how to follow up as necessary. They maintain the condition and appearance of assigned areas, and ensure that areas are clean, shoppable, and safe. They will also maintain a professional relationship with internal and external partners. They must possess strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills, enabling them to work with their team to process a customer transaction from pre-qualification to site analysis, ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction possible.


55% Sales:

-Explain the benefits of purchasing their project through the HDDC

-Educates customers during the selling process (e.g., answer questions, elaborates on features, benefits, costs)

-Set expectations for customers by presenting examples of typical timelines and budgets

-Assist the customer with building a project budget framework, and ensure customers is aware of THD credit options

-Encourages customers to purchase a site analysis, the next step in the design and project selling process

-Stays abreast of daily, weekly, monthly sales reports

40% Customer Service:

-Actively greet walk-in and appointment project customers; seek to understand their goals such as look, budget and timelines

-Answer customer questions on the products and services offered at the HDDC and sets expectations around design and install process

-Assists with keeping product showroom in excellent appearance

-Follows up with clients via telephone when appropriate

-Resolves client complaints or involves the appropriate manager to ensure customer satisfaction

5% Self-Development:

-Proactively seeks knowledge on all products and services, and design trends related to kitchen and bath

-Routinely develops skills in related areas of expertise


Typically reports to HDDC Supervisor.

This position has 0 direct reports.


Environment: Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Travel: Travel between locations may be required


Must be eighteen years of age or older.

Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required: The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diploma or GED.

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 1+ year

Physical Requirements:

Frequent periods are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about; occasionally there may be a need to stoop or lift light objects (typically less than 8 pounds).

Preferred Qualifications:

1+ years of Specialty Retail, Interior Design or Kitchen & Bath Design (NKBA Certification is NOT required)

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Strong verbal and written communication skills

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively with cross-functional teams
